Does anyone see an inverse relationship between organic search and PPC?

I swear that my organic search clicks dropped when I was using PPC.

Conversely, when I just let me PPC account run dry, my organic
search numbers went back up.

Anyone else seen this happen?

Maybe I'm just making things up in my head.

  • I have just seen one of my most profitable organic search campaigns get kicked off to the 100 spot, after it had been in top ten on my money keywords.

And all that fun was happening while they are banning my Best performing adwords account.

I love doing business with Google.

The searcher is Google's customer. Google's PPC income is paid by 1.3% of their PPC users. So never think they care about you unless you are do a spend over $50+ million a month.

They could ban 98% of the PPC clients and make more by lowering overhead and reducing gross income by less than 1%. That would appear to be what they are beginning to do. !!

I am sure they don't give a **** about me, but I am slowly stop giving a **** about them, and then it will be their loss, lol, I'll stop being a searcher, so they'll lose a customer.

      and I search a lot.

The idea is not screwing one customer so the other customer will feel better, if they only care, they could have done things differently, if this is the way they treat their customers/partners/advertisers, I actually don't want to be part of it if I can.

It's absolutely possible, if you're buying keywords that you are already ranking for in the organic SERPS.

If you're showing up on both the paid listings and organic, there is a good chance that your users will click the paid ad instead of the organic listing. If you're only in the organic SERPS then that is their only choice.

I'll let you know - I just ramped up a PPC campaign on a new to me site.

As long as traffic increases & conversions - not sure if I care - although large amounts of organic converting would be reallly nice...

For the last time, search is search and PPC is PPC and never the twain shall meet. Whatever changes you see in organics has nothing to do with your PPC efforts and those changes would have happened if you were not using PPC. They are two separate things. So as you say, you are making things up in your head.
