Format for Marketing Articles Sites / SEO

Hello;
I have a collection of about 900 marketing articles. I have rights / permission from the authors to republish all of them. I have them formatted nicely in HTML, each on a separate page. They are not 100% unique (meaning they have been published elsewhere), but the majority of them are not over published and are only visible on a couple other sites.
I'd like to put this up in a format that is not only search engine friendly, but is useful for people that want to read the articles. I will likely use WP as the content management platform, and that will have a search function built in.
Right now, I have a static HTML page that contains links to all of the articles, one big long page with 900 titles on it. I'm not sure this is the best format for people or the search engine.
From a SEO and usability standpoint, I am looking for suggestions on how a site like this should be formatted. I could use the long list or I could post a couple articles on the first page, and allow the rest to be access via search.
Is any one option better for SEO?
