marketing with articles unrelated to your topic?

I just read some really interesting posts about using article marketing primarily as a source of backlinks rather than a direct traffic source, particularly for Adsense sites. In that context, the topic of the article really doesn't matter at all - the article could really be about anything at all as long as the resource box contained a keyword link to your site, correct?

The more I think about it, the more sense it makes, but it honestly never dawned on me before. Anyone here use that method (i.e., articles unrelated to your site topic)?

    Sure have.

My most recent article at EZA is in both the most viewed and most published sections.
It is an article on keyword research with a link at the end to an Adsense perfume site I have.

Being 5th on the most viewed page is great but the thing is not one clickthru to my site but that is not why I put it there.

It was purely and simply put there for the backlink.

Backlinks from unrelated articles routinely get our pages on the first page of google. For the most competitive niches we do see better results with on topic unique niche articles.
