Adwords Cost Per Click

Hi,

I'm running an Adwords campaign testing 5 keywords (Clickbank product). I started max. cpc at $0.25 and find a few of my keywords getting impressions, but no clicks. The avg. pos is 7.1 - 8.2.

Is it advised to increase the cpc until I get to page 1, maybe top 5 position?

Usually, the lower the position, the lower the click rate. If you want more clicks, you must either 1) bid higher to get higher position or 2) change your ads to better ones. The advantage to #2 is that you don't have to increase your CPC and your ads could move up in rank naturally. Your QS gets better which means your actual CPC will go down so you don't have to increase it as much as doing only #1 to get the same position.

By the way, the top positions are normally where you want to be: more clicks, more sales, more profits. But do test and find out which is best for you.

I usually bid my keywords up until I'm showing in position 2 - 3. In my experience, that's a good place to be, as you'll get CTR and conversion data faster.
