Quick Question About Split Testing W G Site Optimizer

I installed all the scripts and have 2 pages I am testing against the control or main page.
Anyway everything tested out fine through the Adwords interface. The scripts confirm and the previews work.
If I try to access my page by just typing in the url it jumps to one of the test pages and refreshes continually. I don't have experience with the Google website optimizer.
I am assuming it wont work right unless traffic is sent from my Google ads am I right, or should I be able to type in the address and have it work?
