How to do Competition Analysis for Competition Annihilation!?

Can anyone point me to a good resource for understanding the competition and acting on that analysis?

I want to be able to look at the competition module in Market Samurai, break it down properly and know how to act based on that information.

There are many pieces to the off-page SEO puzzle: linkwheels, mininets, backlinks, social bookmarking, etc. I want to be able to understand what I will need exactly to rank a page for my chosen keyword and how to put those puzzle pieces together in the most efficient way possible.

What indicators in the analysis would tell me if I need a linkwheel or not? Will I always need more backlinks and what type is needed for this keyword?

My searches here have yielded results with a few clues, but nothing in-depth and complete. If you could point me to any good WSOs, ebooks, sites, other threads or even help me here in this thread, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

I don't think there's really a complete guide to it all. The best way I have found is to analyze the backlinks of the top 10 from market samurai and then replicate what they're doing.
Like.. If you analyze a website's backlinks you'll find out what form of linking they're using. You can then use a similar system and/or add a little bit more to get the top spot.

So it's just about the backlinks? To outrank the competition, one just needs more backlinks than the other guys?

Not just the "number" of backlinks... but the "quality" of them as well. There's alot of factors in that. Domain age from where the backlinks come from... Anchor text.. etc.

On page SEO does make a difference but in my experience it has always been the backlinks that have mattered most.

    The way I see it...
Good content is a prerequisite. It will eventually matter even if it doesn't matter that much right now. Id say 10% is your content/Onpage SEO .. the rest is the backlinks

Thanks for your response. It seems like there would be more to the analysis part of the SEO game. Just not sure how the pieces fit together and when to use certain tools like a linkwheel, etc. vs. Angela's backlinks. Obviously, those techniques are out there and an SEO expert might choose to use one over the other or both. I just want to know how they get to that decision.

A good resource on how to conduct thorough competition analysis, is what I need.

There's a good WSO idea for someone! I'd buy it.

All the guys who think they know anything about the SEO should come together and held a contest and then we would see whose "school" is the best.

Anyway two components...on page seo and off page seo. You can use a free tool called traffictravis to check your competitors and yourself for both of them. Comes with easy to follow tutorials.

PS! In 2010 Google starts look website loading speed when ranking websites
