Google has been doing a pagerank update as of late just in case anyone was wondering. Most of my sites moved up 1-2 levels. How about yours?

Check Page Rank!

Cheers

I love when these threads hit lately. I would never know to check (with Google's odd update times) if it wasn't posted in here.

My main site went from PR0 to PR3 :-)

I humbly bow to the power of backlinks.

I would be interested in others' thoughts about PR distribution among pages on a young site. The site is only about 3 months old. Every page was PR0 going into this Google update. It is a wordpress site with about 15 pages of content. It is heavily backlinked, but all backlinks are directed at the main domain + 2 internal pages. I would estimate that 70% of the backlinks are directed at the main domain, 20% are directed at lets say Page 1, 10% are directed at lets say Page 2, and zero directed at the other pages (note that i'm not actively trying to rank for any of the other pages).

    Anyways, the PRs now:

    Main page: PR3
    Page 1 (20% page): PR3
    Page 2 (10% page): PR4 (whoa)
One of the other pages: PR0
All of the other pages: PR3

I really liked how the PR3 pretty much filtered down to all of the other pages (except 1) of the wordpress site, despite having zero backlinks (other than internal). I also like how one of the pages that I'm actively trying to rank for went from PR0 to PR4. This is despite the fact that it is the least of my 3 backlinked pages.

Has other people experienced similar things with respect to PR flow within their site?

You have a good site in the eyes of Google. They are smart with these things. Keep up the good work.

I would say most of my sites have a similar breakdown in page rank. If the index is PR3 then probably half of the posts are PR2 with the rest a mix of PR1 and 0's.

I also believe that the fewer posts on a site the more they benefit. The page rank isn't watered down as much. A blog that updates daily isn't going to see the same site-wide benefits as a blog with a static 10 posts.

Thanks Jason. You are right that it seems like a blog with a relatively fewer static posts would likely benefit from the main pages' high PR. At least that seems common sense to me...not that Google always follows common sense.

Might be how your navigation is setup. Its probably getting a nice flow from your backlink sites also make sure to check if you actually have posts that have been picked up by other sites. Nice thing about backlinking is that because your site is now more visible you begin to gt backlinks naturally as well.

More importantly I am already getting reports of users seeing better results in SERPs. Some fairly new sites are doing well (not my public site since I never backlink to it with any of my backlinks).

So much for backlinks not working anymore.

just got my first page rang one! Way to start the new year.

However I dont understand is "why do some websites with no ranking (0) rank around postion 1 and 2 ? My competitor's page is page rank 0 but page age is 2005. Mine was just established this year on october.
Looks like page age dominates over page rank ? Tell us what you think

    Happy new DECADE!!!
