?CONFUSED? so many ideas on backlinks!

wow, so the WF is pretty awesome.
You guys and gals certainly like to help out and im very appreciative but with that said i have a couple questions.

1. how important is a relevancy?
ive heard some gurus say that a link is a link is a link, regardless of PR, relevancy or any other factor. So if i post a political link in a software forum is that going to give me the same results as a link in a political forum?

2. how important is anchor text?
is it really important to use anchor text or just a normal link to the page im trying to rank for a KW?

3. Page Backlinks vs. domain Backlinks, which matters more?
pretty much self-explanatory. if im trying to rank for a KW, which matters more as to my rankings....the Domain BL's or the BL's to the page itself?

4. dofollow vs nofollow?
ive heard some gurus say nofollow really will not give you link love but ive heard the EXACT opposite from other gurus.

    Question 1. The link would be better in a political forum, but even in a software forum, the link would still be valuable.

    Question 2. Pretty important since it defines what Google thinks of your site. Almost any link is good, one with your keyword text is best.

    Question 3. You need some of both.

    Question 4. There is lots of disagreement on this. I don't worry about it, I just get the links.

      Write articles or get them written for you in the "Warriors For Hire" section of this forum, put anchor text links in there and send them out to article directories and blogs, social network sites and enjoy the increase in backlinks you will soon see in Yahoo and AltaVista (but not listed for us to see in Google - though they see them!).

        I think 2 factors determine the value of a link.

        1. Link juice that link passes.
        2. Link count.

        So if it is a dofollow link - it will pass Link Juice along and will be COUNTED as a backlink.
        If there is a nofollow link - it will not pass Link Juice, but will be counted as a backlink.

        I may be wrong with what i said.
        Was i clear on that?

    2. use anchor text
    3. still a debate here - I've used both and both work so still up in the air on what's more important. It really depends on how you want to target your market.
    4. also a debate but the more time you spend on worrying about this the more time you're wasting not building links. I tend not to care and build links regardless and now am on the top spots of all the search engines. Just build links and don't worry about wasted time as reading, searching for answers and sitting there doing nothing is a waste of time. If you build links regardless you are doing something positive regardless if they give you as much value as another strategy.

      1. relevancy is important (you dont need 1000 site if you can get 100 relevancy site backlink)
      2. Anchor text is important (To help google find the most site with anchor text and relevancy backlinks)
      3. domain/page backlinks is important since you use anchor text, relevancy and quality of site.
      4. dofollow is important (even only google that use this rule but it is important to get good result in google but not it mean nofollow not important.

    Submitting to directories is also a good way to get the right anchor text pointing to your site.
