Article Marketing Question (Sorry If It's A Newbie One)

I get the whole idea behind article marketing, however, there's one thing that I've always been unsure of, and never could find a clear answer to.

Question: Is it actually detrimental to your SEO rankings if you submit the SAME same article to like 20+ directories?

I've got Mass Article Submitter, and used it a few times. Then one day, I realized that my Ezinearticles account had been suspended because the exact same article was found on another directory (obviously mine!)

So what I'd really like to know, is should I just submit my article to ONE directory, and only to other directories if I've spun it?

Any clarification would be much appreciated

A long time ago I used to mass submit to article directories but found it to be a waste of time. I didn't really get any benefit. Here are the only places I now submit to that I actually get traffic and good results from:

    1) ezinearticles.com
    2) ehow.com
    3) ArticlesBase.com
    4) buzzle.com
    5) goarticles.com
    6) helium.com
    7) articlesnatch.com
    8) articlealley.com
    9) articledashboard.com
    10) searchwarp.com
    11) amazines.com
    12) ideamarketers.com
    13) isnare.com
    14) work.com

My 2 favorite on this list are ezine and work.com . If you write a solid article on work.com, business.com will pick it up for the keyword your targeting and place you on the top right of the front page for that keyword. I'm getting really good results doing that and more importantly real converting traffic. I would just stick to this list and not waste you time with the article farms. Good Luck!

PS: I've never heard about ezine suspending accounts for duplicate content. D:

Hey SweetFranky, thanks for the info.

Just to clarify though, for each of the below listed, do you submit the SAME EXACT article? Or a UNIQUE one to each?

Nice tip about Work.com! I never knew this site even existed. Will give it a shot.

As per the OP's question, I submit my articles to just EZA, GoArticles, ArticleDashboard, ArticleSnatch, and ArticleBase (lots of autoblogs syndicate content from ArticleBase = lots of free backlinks)

I usually submit original articles to ezinearticles.com, buzzle.com (which requires original articles) and goarticles.com since those sites have great ranking power and quite often your article will get first page rankings.

Then a take another article and mass submit it to other directories simply to get backlinks.

Actually, Buzzle is the only one that requires a original article at time of submission.

Is it better to Spin Articles per Directory or spinning won't help much with SEO?

Thanks Sashas and Nightwolf, and you don't have to submit a unique article for each directory. I just stick with that list because it's the only places you will get real traffic from. Hope this helps!
