I've heard alot about backlinking and have somewhat tried it. Still very confused I think it's been a lame attempt.
Now is backlinking when others enjoy your content and set up a link to you?
so if I posted my website link in this post it would be considered a backlink?
how do you go about back linking? do you just provide quality content and hope people like it as well and link to you?

I tried link market with one of my sites and it did get me alot of links that I'm supposed to place on my site but they have absolutely nothing to do with my site's content. Is it still good to have them or is it wasting time and effort since the links are not in my niche?

    Back linking is basically when another page on a site or blog on the internet is linking back to your website.

    The more back links to your site the more "important" your site may appear to search engines and therefore your site would typically rank higher for the keyword you used for the back links.

    You can get back links from a number of places, although the more relevant they are to your website the more they will benefit you.

    You can build back links from;

    * Submitting articles
    * Website Directories
    * Blog commenting
    * Forum Posting
    * Web 2.0 such as hubs, squidoo etc
    * Social Networking profile sites

    I hope this helped you understand it a little more

      yes, backlinking is when some other site has links to your sites. If you want to get position in google with any keyword, than you have to put special anchor text in backlink, like what is backlinking ,it is just example and becklinks to your thread.
      Imagine if that page from which you has backlinng has PR 5 and there is 1 link,what links to your site, than you will get more points what google count, if in that page will be 10 links,than you will get less points.
      Sometimes you need few good backlings in related sites with good PR instead of many without PR or with PR 1 or 2

    never forget good, unique content on your site though.

    I've seen sites where they do have thousands of backlinks but the content is crap.

    Yah I wouldn't use a service like that. Backlinks are just links back to your site. Anyone offering links like that is just trying to take advantage of people that don't understand how it works. You need backlinks from pages with high page rank the better. If a site is very relevant and has a low PR, it is still a great link. I have one site with PR 1 getting 200 uniques a day, so that goes to show you that PR isn't all that important, but it is a good way overall to measure a sites authority.

    I tend to comment on other blogs and forums related to my niche and leave a link at the bottom of the comment linking back to my website. Do this about 5 times a day on various blogs and forums and you will soon have hundreds of back-links to your website. I have back-links that I left over 2 years ago from comment posting that are still bringing me traffic today!

    It does not take very long to carry out this method. I tend to do it at the end of the day just before packing up, make sure you leave quality comments though and not just 2 words as your comments might get spammed by the moderators.

    Best of luck!

    Hi,
    backlinking is one of the easiest and quickest ways to get traffic to your site and its also very important part in SEO.
    backlinking are incoming links to a website. Inbound links were originally important because it brings new user to our site when links are merit based and free volunteer as an editorial choice.means the number of backlinks.
