Hi all,

If your target keywords are: 'blue' and 'widget', and you have a non-keyword domain, e.g. www.colouredthings.co.uk,

To improve SERPS for a page, is it better to:

(1) Create an inner page with the keywords in the name, i.e. www.colouredthings.co.uk/blue-widget.html, and build links to this page, using the keywords as anchor text? or
(2) Target the main damain page, i.e. www.colouredthings.co.uk, and build links to that, using the keywords as anchor text?

Thanks in advance.

Google would prefer a separate page for each subject. Much easier to rank for when one page talks about one specific subject because you will have more related keywords per page.

Also... Linking to internal pages is more natural. If someone is linking to your site because they found info on a particular subject they would link to the page they found the information on not your main page.

Think if you wanted to share information you found on wikepedia, you would not link to the main page and have your visitors do a search you would link directly to the page with the information you wanted them to see. This is what google expects to see so you should show them what they expect.
