The variables I use to determine ranking our Google search results # and the allintitle #. Are these the variables you use? If so, what are the numbers you should not pass for these two variables to get articles and hubpages indexed?

I'm not familiar with what "search rate" and "competition value" means?

I also look at all allinurl # and I make sure there's at least 2,000 exact searches my keywords.

Search rate means the number of searches a day, month or year for the keyword or keyword phrase. For example if you go to Wordtracker's free tool at: Wordtracker

and type in a keyword phrase you will get a number of searches or 'search rate' per day.

If you type that same keyword phrase into google using quotes you will see an entry just below the Google search box that is similar to the following:

Results 1 - 10 of about 30,400 for "your keyword phrase".

That means there are 30,400 pages (not websites) that have that keyword phrase in it. These are your 'search results'.

In a nutshell there is a KEI (keyword effectiveness index) formula that you can use to determine what keywords are the best.

KEI = search rate / search results

There are products and tools that will automatically give you the KEI for keywords as well or you can figure it out yourself.

      Hope that helps :-)

I use Market Samurai to find out how well I could rank for a keyword phrase. The criteria I go for is 160 searches a day and less than 30,000 searches a month for the exact phrase.

Market Samurai then also shows how strong the competition is in the top 10 so there are times when the above criteria are met but I still wont use the keyword if the top 10 competition is too strong.

I use and have used all the techniques above but nowadays I just do what i have to do. That is: longtail keywords, domain, content, links.

If it stays there, I keep it. Otherwise just sell it and move on.

Before you ask why I do it this way: sometimes all the tools and techniques tells you stay away BUT the reality says top 10

If you have the time, resources and money, try it for a couple domains.

It really does not matter to me if there is 3,000 search results or 3 million.

I only concern myself with the first 3 spots in Google one .

What weapons did they use to get there ?

Can I compete with these same weapons ?

I never have saw the point of worrying with spots I don't want any way .

If I think I can compete for the first three spots I will use the keyword

For me its mostly how competitive the rankings on the first page are. If i know i can build up to first page on a keyword then i will use that keyword.
