pr6 with 2 links, how can this be?

How can a ezine article page have a page rank of 6 but only show 2 incoming yahoo links (seoquake), it sits at nr2 position in google?

My competing article has a pr2 rank with 339 links and it nowhere to be seen... (mine is better seo optimized too)

I thought I had some idea on how rankings work but It seams I have no idea or the rules have changed dramatically.

Sincerely
Karl

What was the age of the article? might be a factor. They could have a few other really good links as well that yahoo isn't showing.

Check to see how many visits that article has had also - as Matt said it could be age.

I found that my ezines that had over 1,000 views in a month achieve a PR3 without any backlinks so it seems there that views have a strong impact although I have looked at other articles that have over 100,000 views and show no PR so I still haven't figured out Ezine.

Also - I have found building backlinks to ezines doesn't seem very effective. ArticlesBase and Goarticles will get you right to the top - you can much better optimize the onsite SEO with AB and GO - also a HubPage can have great onsite SEO. If you aren't getting on the map with your Ezine take that article and put it on those directories.

I hate building backlinks to articles because I like to build the equity on my own site so I have been using Free Traffic System to do both at the same time without feeling like I am wasting backlinks on article directories. By posting 1 article out to 40 blogs I use 2 of they keyword resource boxes for my own sites and then use 1 of the keyword resource boxes to send backlinks to an article but spinning it to 4 different directories so that 1 post gets me about 10 backlinks each and I'm able to see each of those articles rise in the rankings. Whichever one responded the best either a Goarticle, Hub, or AB I then will focus another resource box to it later giving it all 40 of the backlinks. If you use the free version you get 2 keyword resource boxes - you could use 1 for your main site and another for a couple articles.

I really don't think views has anything at all to do with it, but that's just my opinion. Backlinks are a different story.

    Karl,

Advanced SEO guys use redirect domain to mask incoming links.
So, make one domain and add 303 redirect on it to EZA article.
Build all links to that domain.

On that way competitors can't find how you built links, but Search Engines still follow it and give points to end url (EZA page).

insightful... some seo companies promise number one position in one week.. i bet they use the same technique.. that is why it rarely lasts for paid seo work

You don't need to pay for it if you know how to do it...

If you know to do it you can outsource cheap work from east and get link building done for small fee..

On other side paying to US SEO company to do that work for you might cost a lot...and even they use the same cheap workers for all that work...

So >>> Go and learn SEO

Yeah we can never tell what is happening with 301 redirects, that is something most of us don't consider when we see rankings....good point.

I don't think age can make that much of a difference, can it?

PR is sometimes flaky too. I sold a bunch of site last year in a fire sale, and this one guy bought a PR4 site from me offering a ridiculously low price. I knew why he was doing it. He was hoping I didn't pay attention to PR. But the joke ended up being on him. I knew that site was nowhere near a true PR4. It was a fluke in Google. I knew it had to be because I'd done very minimal backlinking and was keeping track of such things very closely. If he hadn't insulted my intelligence by offering such a scamming price, I would have just told him, hey, that PR is a fluke and will definitely right itself soon. But he p*ssed me off trying to scam a site for such a cheap price. So I took his lowball offer. I'm sure he thought he was stealing it. In fact, others in that forum thread were all patting him on the back for such a great buy. LOL Joke was on him. Sure enough, shortly after it reset to PR0.

Anyway, the point is, PR showing is not always accurate.

Site A: tons and tons of backlinks ...301 redirect to Site B.

Site B: shows no backlinks showing in the searches and has a PR6:rolleyes:

I think it depends of the age of the article as well as the article is on a well reputed site (EZA), due to that reason, You could get this PR6 as well as, depends on the value of your backlink (based on niche, PR of the webpage, outbound links on the webpage) Google could give you this.

Can you let us know about those two backlinks, whether those are realted to your niche and the PR and etc.... That will help us to follow you trick to get good PR :p
