I purchased a domain on saturday and am itching to start backlinks to it, I feel like im wasting time until then, Im wanting to reach to the top for 15ish keywords as soon as possible (as most people are im sure) I was wondering how long should I wait until i begin to backlink, also how steady should I do this?

thanks

You can start straight away, but the key is to NOT build too many links too quickly. Just make the linkbuilding look natural remembering to:

    1. Get links from different C Class IP address

    2. Vary the anchor text used

    3. From relevant sites

      Site A IP Address: 38.338.33.3

      Site C IP Address: 38.338.33.4
      Site D IP Address: 38.338.47.4

It is thought that google treats domains that are on the same class c ip address as similar sites, and you don't get the full value of links placed on them.

Two sites that have the same c class IP address have the first 3 numbers of the IP address the same (with the 4th being the same or different).

      So, in the above example:
Site A and B are on the same domain IP
Sites A, B and C are all on the same class c ip address
Site D is on a completely separate class c ip address than Sites A, B and C

There are hosting companies out there were you can buy different c class ip address (say, buy 10 of them), if you really want to diversity your IP inventory.

      Hope that helps.

Each hosting company has it own C block and some hosting companies have mutiple C blocks.

Each C block has a cluster of C Blocks.

Links coming from varied different C Blocks hold more weight... But It's not proven only testing will tell.

How do you guys feel about using UAW for a new site? I'm not a subscriber of their service (yet?!), but I was checking out their sales page and had concerns about it being too aggressive for a new domain.

Does anyone know if you are able to slow things down and just build yourself a few backlinks each day... I'm working on figuring out my own best SEO strategy including article submissions, profile backlinks, and blog commenting with a 3 to 6 month window for each new site.

I'm with ruch1v though and wondering what a safe number of backlinks to build each day/week for a new domain without raising any red-flags with Google.

    Thanks!

UAW lets you set how many versions of each article it sends out a day. So if you want to start with 1 article a day going out, or just a few then you can do so. Then you could add other articles a bit later going out at higher rates if you wish.

Does anyone know where I can get some information on manual local directory submission? I also have a website that is hitting hard with keywords alone. I don't want to blast it with links yet, but think local directories would get it pulling along. Any thoughts?

Let's see. I launched two new domains last night and got about 50 links for each as soon as the dust had settled (meaning their RSS feed could be accessed from another site). Don't hesitate at all on your link building, get started right away.

Steady? Don't worry about it too much unless you're planning a truly massive automated link building campaign and you're not bothering to get any authority links and/or a diverse set of links.

Well Tom beats me by 59 seconds but yeah start on them right away and do a lot as I've not been able to get my sites sandboxed with 1000's of links added the first day.

I would start building links slowly and immediately. just do it by hand and do not use any automation.

You can start link building, but don't overdo this.
