RSS submission question

Hello,

I've done a little searching on the forum, but couldn't find a single thread that really gave me the scoop on RSS submissions. Here's what I understand and what I've found. Can others please add in the parts I might be missing?

RSS submission (such as to FeedAgg) are useful in getting backlinks to my site. Here's how I think it works. These sites publish my feed and so if I've submitted to five of them then each time I post to my site I immediately get five backlinks to my post.

Is that right?

I've found through bits and pieces the following sites that I've submitted to:
http://www.feedage.com/
http://www.feedagg.com/
http://www.syndic8.com/
http://www.millionrss.com/
http://www.badrss.com/
http://www.netimechannel.com/
http://publisher.yahoo.com/rss_guide/submit.php

Aside from these, are there others that I should submit my feeds to?

I think the third part is to submit my feed other more specific places, like in web 2.0 pages. This would have a similar effect, except that the links may roll off after so many posts.

Please help me fill in the gaps or post a link to another thread that already has.

I would also like to know about this, since it doesn't seem like it would be much use to SEO

it's much easier using something like RSSbot to do most of it for you.

You can also mix up feeds using rssmix or Yahoo pipes to create another feed and then submit that to get even more links!

This method is not totally without value, however I would not overdo it.

The point of this thread is to figure out how to use it correctly. What's your take? How do you think I should use it correctly?
