Google SEO and webhosting country

I've just optimised my first website for google on a 5000 searches per month keyword. It's reached number 1 on google.co.uk however it languishes at number 21 on google.com

I would like to if the country that my website is hosted in will have any effect on my rankings on google.com. I'm from the UK so naturally I chose a UK Host.

It could be that there are more optimised websites competing for ranking in the google.com search engine but if my host location does have an effect on my rankings I'd like to know so can change my provider.

I have never heard of that myself... But on the other hand I never had to deal with that issue.

Maybe you can switch to a HostGator or similar account, and see if that helps.

Alternatively, I think if you are at no.21... Throw some fuel on the fire, and climb that ladder as well. Many people dream of "languishing at no 21" LOL

Seriously, only 2 ways to go here. Change Hosting, or keep doing what you have been doing successfully.

And finally...wow, first the Boston Tea Party...now this.... damn Yankees!

Cheers, If you've never heard of it, I'll keep plugging away at the SEO, a few more backlinks and a few posts 'n' stuff. I have to reach number 1

What is the extension of your site. Is it .com, .org, .uk, or something else?

I have heard of anecdotal cases of this, but never seen anything to support the theory. One thing that you could try is registering the site with Google Webmaster Central - there's a setting there that allows you to specify which country (if any) that you want to target.

    Good luck!
