I found some fantastic, and available domain names in my niche.

Do you think I should buy the domain name, put content on a page, and redirect it back to my site

or...

put an article on my site (with the title of the domain name I was considering) with all the appropriate tags etc...

That is, should I buy bluewidgets.com, put an article up and a link back to my site or put an article titled bluewidgets on my site with all the right tags etc..?

Thanks

I did the same thing. First I did a redirect.. Didn't work. The search engines picked up on it and simply wouldn't index it. Unless someone typed in the exact name clumped together with (dot) com, it wouldn't show up. I wrote 16 unique articles all on the same subject, (but all different) and posted them with a rota-tor. Once someone clicked on the link it brought them to my site. Works great! And, it got indexed on Google page 1.

I prefer to buy the domain, as it could helps you in ranking that particular keyword. As the keyword present in the url helps a lot in ranking in search engines.
