Best Way To Set Up Conversion Optimizer

HI All,

Ok, I will lay out my situation, then get your advice on how you think best to handle it. Here is my sales funnel... The user clicks on my ad, and goes to a landing page. Here i collect their email, and they go into the sales funnel. I don't expect to sell them anything for at least a week, possibly 2 (or somewhere in between). There is one main product they are most likely to buy, and another one that they might.

So here are my 2 choices when setting up conversion optimizer. I could enter the CPA on the purchase of the main product, and just call any sales of the other product (and also the value of the email) a bonus. The advantage of doing this is that I would be optimizing based on actual purchases, instead of just emails entered... which is cool, because it may be that a certain ad group gets lots of email submits, but no sales... and if i optimize the CPA on email submit, I won't get that.

So the other option then is to optimize the CPA on email submit. The advantage of this is that I take everything into account (the value of the email, and also the other sale)... although the 2 disadvantages are 1) I don't really know the CPA value for the email, and 2) If there are certain adgroups where people optin but don't buy, I will be wasting money here, because that won't be optimized.

Another advantage of the second option is that the email submit gets a conversion immediately, and I feel that the delay of 1 or 2 weeks every time might stuff up the CPA optimization.

What do you think?
