Hi any kind of warriors,

I would love to know your comments, ideas on how to rank 1st page for competitive keywords (SEO) and how long it takes. Is it a good idea to go for this competitive keywords (for example : best home based business) or keywords which have about .... searches a month on average (globally) using keyword tool. It makes sense to use this keyword tool since we are using google serach engine and it is more accurate.

I see videos will make it faster to the top page of google search engine instead of text/article.

Espeacially for experts. Here's a question. How much traffics or sales you can generated for keywords that appear 1st page of google.

Now, please don't talk about pay-per-click here because I don't do PPC. I know it is still the fastest way to go for it but I also believe free marketing such as video and article marketing is the way to go.

Is it advisable to go for experts to help you rank your blog/website to the 1st page of google for specific keywords.

If answer is yes, then anyone can suggest their services and also prices maybe.

If not, care to share why.

Thanks in advance any kind of warriors.

Jeffrey

It would take a long time and a ton of on-target content to rank on page one for "best home based business". There are 154 million broad match results for that term, and 374,000 exact matches. Better to start off with less competitive terms so you can get traffic right away, and build toward more competitive keywords from there.

The idea is to get ranked for easier terms first. Then try for a little more competitive terms next, but don't go to the most competitive terms, build your way up. If you can't rank for lesser competitive terms you sure the heck won't rank for the toughest terms. By building your way up, you can get traffic sooner, earn money sooner, and develop a reputation with people and the search engines.

Search engines just aren't going to give a new site a top ranking for a search term that's highly competitive when they have tons of well-established sites they have more trust in.

I will second Dennis, start with small not-so-competitive keywords and work your way up. Once you start getting better at optimizing and getting backlinks to your site it will start to fall in place.

Your site will kind of have to pay its dues for the respect of the search engines. lol sounds funny but it is true.

Actually► This is not a lot of pages to trump
and get over... I would suggest you look
through and through this forum- get some
    knowledge about SEO...

... And start dominating the Search Engines

Do some video marketing, put your keyword
in the tags, in the Headline, in the description...

Article marketing, hub page and Squidoo
    marketing, Video distribution with
TubeMogul.com | In-Depth Tracking, Analytics for Online Video | Web Video Syndication for FREE

►►► Your term is a long term Keyword, it
is very good to rank for that and I don't
    think it's too hard either.

Plus 40,500 people search for that specific
term every month according to google...
I say learn your SEO and go for it...

It's not hard to dominate a keyword that
only has 374,000... I've done that with
youtube videos in less than 3 hours for 1.3 Million
    search results...

And even larger but you wouldn't believe if I put
those figures down so let's just stick to one of my results...

Not only first page BUT 1st period!

... I know some guys who can do it in 6
minutes... Before you pay for a service,
    Learn first...

If you can get a video that advertises
your site to rank high on Google or any
search engine for the first page...

70% of the clicks go to the first 3 SERP
results... That's something to think about...

    Good Luck

First thing, forget the number of competing pages, its a load of old nonsense.

All that matters is, are you in the top 1000 and what are the guys above you doing. How strong are the sites on page one in terms of links and onpage authority?

I think, it is not easy to get #1 on Google within short time period for such high competitve keywords. It will take some time. To do so,

*. You have to make sure that your content is unique and fresh.
*. Your ONSITE SEO setup should be perfect as per Goolge's Guidelines.
*. You have to update your site very often.
*. You have to get QUALITY backlinks daily to your site in natural ways. (Sometimes, you will have to get tons of backlinks too)

It is not hard to get that keywor in top 10
there are only 374,000 in quote matches
    allintitle is 33,900
    allinanchor is 301,000

This is a very easy keyword to achive top 10 at google, I say go for it and just basic off page seo will do the trick, but you must never stop building links and eventualy you will be in top 10

Just one more note, research some more reywords around that keyword and create subpages or categories about that sub keywords and create article for eaych and every one sub keyword. Offcourse build links to thoose pages as well.

Seriously none of those numbers matter all that much. If you want to see if you can get on the first page for a specific search term look at the site sitting at the number 10 spot. If you think you can beat him out then go for it. If not then choose some easier long tailed keywords to start and work your way up to the main one that is your goal.

    yes..just make up back link.

if your competitors at 1st page has 2,000 backlinks
so you should have more than 2,000 backlinks to fight them.

the best way to make up good back link
so that your site will rank at google first page faster is
by post your comment at blog that has high PR

    good luck!

      Exactly what ARVolund said....

If your goal is to be on the first page of Google, then you only need to look at the websites that are on the first page of Google.

It doesn't matter what your 'competition' is in "quotes" or out of quotes... all that is nonsense and doesn't paint an accurate picture of anything relevant.

If you want 1st page then look at Number #10, Do your research... How many Backlinks does it have? What is the anchor text of the links? How old is the Domain name? How well is it optimized 'on page' for your keyword? Keyword in the Title? Keyword in the URL? etc...

If after examining all these factors (and more...) you feel that you can overtake this website, then go for it. Simple as that and you can get to the 1st page.

However, you should never simply shoot for the first page. What you really must examine is the TOP 3 websites for your chosen keyword as that is where the traffic is.

If you think you can overtake #3, then go for it.... then shoot for #2.... then #1

Bottom Line: You do not need to look any further then the first page of Google to find out what your TRUE COMPETITION really is.

Yes, I agree also that you need to check the site on the number 10, but not just site at 10th place you need to check all sites top 10 or 20 or for what ever you have time.

This is not something you can stick with it, because the guy on the 10th place can tomorrow be on 145th place and all your research is not quite as accurate as you think at the first place, so you need to do some deeper research once you find out your main term/niche.

First thing you will check what is the number of results in google for that term
But don't tell me that these numbers won't tell you what you need to know and decide if you will check it further.

Let say you have two words and one returns 50.000.000. and the other returns 200.000 results in google and I think that this results are some good start point for further research about that particular niche. Then you will check what others are doing and try to overtake them. But don't bother to much with your competitors, instead build content and links and results will follow...

Good Point Nemanja, about never resting on your laurels because the other sites are also trying to break the top 10.

However, I still do not put much faith in the number of results Google gives you for your chosen term.

If Google says there are 50,000,000 results for 'blue widgets' but none of the top ten are very optimized (Low PR, keyword not in title/url, few backlinks etc...) and there are only 200,000 results for 'buy widgets' but the top ten is full of highly optimized webpages, then I would gladly try to get ranked for the 'blue widgets' with 50,000,000 results over the 200,000 results.

It is based on this, that I do not put much relevance into how many 'results' Google displays, it is more important to look at the top ten, regardless of # of results.

P.S. For newbies, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
Improve the usability of your website. Make it user friendly as it is Search friendly. Design & frame a website for goal conversions instead of mere traffic. The more theme oriented your website is the greater the chances of it being ranked in the Search Engines. Remember just like websites compete against each other Search Engines too compete against each other for establishing themselves as dominant Search Function providers. The more relevant results they throw up, the more usage they get.

    Hi Jeffrey,

I am SEO expert form daffodil Software Ltd, want to inform you please make strategy for how to beat your competitors .You need update about all change of Google SERP update . i want to share some personal opinion for optimize you website :

    1. Do something cool: Make sure your site stands out from the competition -- in a good way!

    2. Include relevant words in your copy: Try to put yourself in the shoes of searchers. What would they query to find you? Your name/business name, location, products, etc., are important. It's also helpful to use the same terms in your site that your users might type (e.g., you might be a trained “flower designer” but most searchers might type [florist]), and to answer the questions they might have (e.g., store hours, product specs, reviews). It helps to know your customers.

    3. Be smart about your tags and site architecture: Create unique title tags and meta descriptions; include Rich Snippets markup from schema.org where appropriate. Have intuitive navigation and good internal links.

    4. Sign up for email forwarding in Webmaster Tools: Help us communicate with you, especially when we notice something awry with your site.

    5. Attract buzz: Natural links, +1s, likes, follows... In every business there's something compelling, interesting, entertaining, or surprising that you can offer or share with your users. Provide a helpful service, tell fun stories, paint a vivid picture and users will share and reshare your content.

    6. Stay fresh and relevant: Keep content up-to-date and consider options such as building a social media presence (if that’s where a potential audience exists) or creating an ideal mobile experience if your users are often on-the-go.
