Hi,

I have a blog that has 60~70 unique visitors each day. Adsense makes me something like $3 a month. should I use another ad management service?

IMHO, there seems to be nothing better than Adsense (I base that on a combination of my own experience and from reading about other people's experience.)

You could look into the placement of your ads:

You could also look into monetizing in other ways, by adding reviews of affiliate products.

    Experiment is important.

    Themes you use is important.

    Unique articles is important.

Why visitors need to read your article and content is important.

Your getting quality traffic and not just traffic that comes to your site and renege is another.

    Thanks

The strategy of Adsense is to increase your CTR. You may be having now a CTR of 2%. If you increase to 10% you'll make much more.

      How to do that?

Well, google and adsense wants that people know how their system works because that knowledge represents more money for them and obviously for you. So it is important to understand as much as you can how to increase the presence of your ads in your site and how to obtain keywords that pay more.

      Good luck!

I should be making much more money than that. While your level of traffic is not going to make you rich you should be making around $100 a month. Have a play around with your ad placement and try to get a CTR of around 10%.

I did something very simple. Make sure you're coding all of your ads, so you know which ones are performing the best. This last month, I dropped one ad location on my site that was producing a CTR of less than 1%. This upped my overall CTR by about 2% and doubled my Adsense income.

If you haven't coded each of your ads, you'll never know which are performing the best.

if you are in a low paying niche and only getting a few cents per click then you are going to have to increase traffic big time, or move onto a more profitable niche and make dollars per click not pennies.

    What is your blog about?

Great answer captivereef! I've also left a question for you on your Adsense blog pertaining to one of your posts back on September 5, 2008. I will repeat it here, it might make it easier for you to answer?

You mentioned that you write 30-40 articles over a period of 30 days. You said you submit them at a rate of one per day to about 10 article directories. You also submit them to ezinearticles.com by hand first and then you submit to the rest of the directories 24 hours later. You also mentioned that you use these articles and as blog content on blogger.com and wordpress.org.

      My question is:

Do you split up the 30-40 articles and submit some to ezinearticles.com and the other 10 article directores and the 2 free blogging platforms....or do you submit the same exact articles to everywhere? What strategy do you use? I am worried about being flagged for duplicate content by Google!

Should we submit the same 30-40 articles to ezinearticles.com, the same 30-40 articles to the 10 article directories, the same 30-40 articles to blogger.com, and the same 30-40 articles to wordpress.org? Won't this flag us as having duplicate content?

This was a great post and I was wondering your opinion on the duplicate content issue...since we are using the same 30-40 articles on different areas?

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly helpful!! If you can't answer this here, can you would possibly make this separate post on your blog?

      Thank you
      Umberto Pucci

Sorry about how this question in both places!

I think what you need to do is, that increase the traffic. 60-70 visitors will not do any good. You have to get much more traffic. Remember that, traffic = $$$.

I suggest you build some backlinks + update your site on regular bases. This will help to improve your site's SERPs, which will improve traffic.

IMO, adsense is the easiest way to earn money with sites/blogs. It's totally passive. You could try affiliate or CPA networks, but using those involves work. That's time you could be spending building content. I say leave it there. Experiment with placement and keywords.

Go into google analytics and see what your top search phrases are. Find out what pages those phrases point to and then optimise the copy for those search terms. Make sure the copy is relevant and then hopefully the ads will be relevant. This should improve your rankings for those terms and increase traffic.

Also set up channels for your ads so you can see how each one performs.

Change their location on the page according to Google's heat map.

Try link units if you are not already.

Remove the border from your ad blocks if there is one.

Try an an block embedded in your content.

Just experiment - it will come good after a while.

Hi, I make about $2-3 per day from google adsense. I do this from having 1500+ pages of content and having a pr2 ranking. I think it's important to promote your website like crazy, via social bookmarking, forums, articles etc. It's important to get people there who are interested in your subject. That equals better chances of getting your ads clicked. If you have 70 visitors a day, they aren't the right kind because they aren't clicking on your ads.

Try going to forums that are geared for your market, and writing posts, and articles and bookmarking these articles.

Good luck you are on the right path.

If your blog has anything to do with IM, affiliate marketing, make money online, etc. then forget adsense. These people do not click ads.

But if your blog is about a niche topic not related to internet marketing, you should do well with adsense. Try to make your posts very targeted (don't jump around to different topics in the same post).

You need to be a higher paying niche otherwise you cannot make much more. Plus you need traffic that are really looking for what you have in your site.

    Kinley,

70 uniques a day at a 10% CTR would give you 7 clicks a day.

210 clicks a month would be a pretty average figure ( obviously depending on nice ) and you're making $2-3 a month which based on this example is only 1-2 cents a click.

Should you change how you monetize the site?

If your traffic is targeted and coming from search engines etc then, yes, you should consider switching into another form of monetization.

If your traffic is not targeted then you need to improve your traffic source and get better quality visitors that convert for advertisers. dburk higher up in the thread is "on the money" here and worth listening to. I've read a fair amount of his posts now ( as an incidental occurrence when I've been answering other people's questions ) and he knows what he's talking about.
