What do you Warriors think would happen if I started building 100 backlinks to the domain this month?

Doesn't matter how old it is or the past history of linking. What matters is the quality of the backlinks.

What would happen is that you might start to rank for some keywords if you have content on your site.

You can register a brand new domain today, set up a site, get 100 backlinks before lunch and you'll have absolutely no problem.

Depends on how long it has been indexed.

Providing they are safe, decent quality links.. you shouldn't have a problem.

    Having said that,

I have seen people build thousands of really..ummm.. "naughty" links in the past and not get a peep of a slap from Google. And also, nobody will ever really know what Google is going to do, they might or might not slap you.

What is certain is, you will never find out if you don't test it...

    Peace

    Jay

I usually start building backlinks within the first month. But remember as everyone else states.

    Quality is everything.

Bought a domain less than a month ago. Kind of slacked off on it for a few weeks but put about 40 links on it before I got caught up with other things. It was indexed at 200 and now sits at about 70 for a term that will bring about 200 visits a day. I'll get it to the first page with some throw off backlinks that I don't use in my main list.

So I don't see the problem at all even with a brand new domain..

Do you see your signature file? That is a backlink to the site that you are linking to. The text that is underlined is called "Anchor text" Backlinks that have the keywords in the anchor text have a great chance of ranking high in the search engines.

Yup doesn't matter when you decide to start backlinking....just depends on where the backlinks come from....get yourself a few .gov or .edu links and that will kickstart the process nicely.
