    drupal SEOs pretty well out of the box, but there are some modules you need. I dont know about drupal 6 since my main site www.1UP-SEO.com is still running on drupal 5. But you need "clean urls module", "path auto" module. There is also a module called "seo checklist" which gives an overview of all SEO factors and modules.

    Hey GeorgR,

    Very good site, nice theme and well organized. It looks like you are Drupal go to guy. This is my first time using Drupal so I hope you don't mind if I ask more questions.

    I have path auto installed and enable but I can not use clean URL since it requires some configuration on server side (can't remember right now). So if you know how I can do this please guide me.

    probably the mod_rewrite enabled? do you have admin access? Otherwise ask admin that you need the mod_rewrite enabled for url rewriting...he will know what it is.

    You can post the exact error msg too, might help. This is my first (and oldest) site and the only one i am running on drupal...it SEOs really well but after 3 years right now i would rather go for wordpress. Drupal can be very complex..its very powerful but has a FAR steeper learning curve eg. compared to WP.

    Yeah and the theme i made with artisteer

      Yes, I am the admin. Currently my sites are hosted by HostGator and I did not find that line "mod_rewrite" in the php EZ config file. So, from the get go after I saw that requirement, I did not even try to enable Clean URL.

        I'm pretty sure hostgator's servers are apache with mod_rewrite enabled so you should be able to enable clean URLs... if's not working you might need to edit your .htaccess file ... specifically the RewriteBase ...and set it to where your base drupal install is.

        For Drupal 6.x you will want the following modules:

        pathauto
        nodewords
        pagetitle
        Google Analytics Module (if you are using Google Analytics)

          Thank you much. I will will work on those modules. One other quick question. My content type is story. Do you know how to set URL for the home page (Instead of having www.bestofcampuscrimelog.com/node)? I am using drupal 6.x

            When you have pathauto working with clean url's it will automatically set the url to the title name.

    I'm also interested in learning this Drupal platform and I don't know where to find the resources needed to study this stuff.

    I did talk to HostGator today and they told me that mod_rewrite is enabled but still my clean url is still grayed out and disabled.

    I can access my .htaccess file but this is all I can find in there
    # -FrontPage-

    IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*

    <Limit GET POST>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    allow from all
    </Limit>
    <Limit PUT DELETE>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    </Limit>
    AuthName bestofcampuscrimelog.com
    AuthUserFile /home/best*****/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd
    AuthGroupFile /home/best*****/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.grp

    Any idea what I can do from here?

    One thing I did already was to download Pathauto module, installed, and enable it. Was able to configure it but still I need to enable Clean URLS.

    So if you have any ideas please help. I can't find any solution through some tutorials or tech support since they don't deal with third party apps.
