I was reading on a thread that said if you don't leave anchor text you will get no effect on your SERP, is that true?

I have found about 15 pr 2-6 pages i can leave backlinks but w/o anchor text and im not concerned about about direct traffic only SERP juice so im curious if its worth my time

the anchor text helps your site rank for those keywords.

getting url backlinks... http://yoursite.com will still benefit your site in other indirect ways.

If you can get them, take them. It's not going to hurt any.

They should add to the overall authority of your site.

I can't say that they will directly help with ranking for specific keywords but they will benefit your site as a whole which will have an indirect effect on all of your rankings.

At least that is how I see it.

If the links are Do Follow, you get PR Juice through them. This PR juice, if you distribute to the pages you want to rank, will help you do just that.
Let's take a highly theoretical example with numerical values to understand this better.
From what I know, there are 2 things that increase your site's PR. The more pages, the more PR that generates. The more backlinks, the more PR they bring in, especially if they're from Do Follow sites.
Let's say you have PR juice of 80 (just a numerical value, not the page rank) in total for the whole site. That will help X number of pages get ranked/indexed. If you have PR juice amounting to 100, that will help X + some more pages get ranked/indexed.

Not that it will help you in ranking for particular keywords, but ranking overall for whatever keywords you have targeted with other link building efforts.

Besides, it's good to have some of these non-anchor text links. Do you think that naturally all websites get links only with anchor text?

    Hope that helps!
