Should I Ping, RSS, or BOTH? ((Backlinks))

So I've got my article published on several hundred directories and I'm going to be building profile links this weekend. What I want to know is what is the best use of time in terms of making sure these links actually get found?

I have the URL to every published article and to each profile and so I just want to know if I should

A) Ping all of the URLs with a mass pinging tool

B) Combine all of the URLs into an RSS feed and submit it to a few feed sites

or

C) Both. I know some people might go "of course, do both!" but I want to know if that's really worth my time (as i do all of my own SEO right now) or if just one of the above is sufficient for getting your links indexed.

    Hi Brandon,

What I would do is just ping them.

Then grab these links, put them up in a page, use a free host or blogger or whatever and ping/backlink that page.

I create lots of links daily and i've tried the rss way you mentioned but never got good enough results so i never do it anymore.

I would do both, and also post them into a blogger blogpost and ping that and RSS that as well.

I recently implemented RSS on my latest site and the result is good. so I recommend it.

Doing both in good interval will surely give much better outcome IMO

    Branlan,

    You said it yourself.

And I'll help you say it again.

    Do both. It's worth it.

    A simple tool like Incansoft's
RSS Bot can help you achieve that.

And if you want a heavier duty
    and more powerful too, use
    SE NUKE. It's all automated.

OK I appreciate the input but in regards to posting the URLs on a blogger blog... isn't the placing of tons of links on one blogger with no content extremely spammy and wouldn't it just leave a huge footprint?

I understand the other methods but I'm struggling to grasp why putting 50 links in a blog post is a good idea : /

I already have a blogger blog I've been updating every few days with fresh content, but I feel that if I start plopping a list of 50 profile link URLs onto my blog it's gonna hurt me.

Branlan I suggest you do none.

Thats right. Unless you have used the backlink sites before you should get some experience with sites that have backlinks that are found by google themselves.

If all the backlinks you use cannot be found without pinging or other backlinks then they are all of low quality. The whole point of getting High Pr sites to backlink from is that Google extensively crawls those sites.

I'm not saying you won't have to ping or ocassionally backlink your backlinks but I like to identify the sites that i don't need to do that for. For future campaigns I can go right to them. If a page isn't getting crawled then even when that site increases in Pr or authority you stand a good risk of not getting that bonus for having a link there. Or worse since Google isn't crawling/indexing it the backlink may fall off google's radar completely with some update.

Now certainly use RSS for your blog posts regardless.

Listen to these guys if you do either your baclinks will not look natural and will be ignored and all you would have done is waste your time. build the links and let google find the links naturally.
Normal internet users do not ping anything only webmasters ping and once you mass ping all those sites you will raise all sorts of red flags.

It is like sticking a big red sign on your fore head saying look all these links were created by me and me alone.

If your doing it all yourself and don't do anything using tools which will make this quicker (besides the mass ping tool) then just ping them for now!

Then wait a week or 2 and see how many backlinks are indexed and then if you need to or feel you need to go and submit their rss feeds!

You could also go on the setting up a blogger blog and putting all of the links in that and just submitting that rss feed and pinging it and the rss feed! This should get your site indexed quickly

I am for both of the ways, but there are some cases I find RSS more effective, kinda more productive, yea, so you might want to create an RSS feed.

If you create links on those sites and let google find them naturally that is fine but mass pinging links pointing to the same site all at the same time will get your links ignored. The reason google will not devalue the links in angelas packets is they cannot tell which links are legitimate and which ones are created just to gain back link.

Create links using angelas packets , then ping all the links pointing to the same website all at once guess what will happen your rankings will not increase you will get no juice from those links.

Normal web users do not ping. Mass pinging raises red flags. Get your facts right and stop misleading people.

I'm wondering the same thing right now. Is that not going to leave a GIANT footprint?
