Take a Look at This Website's SEO - Interesting Stuff

I made a search for this website's backlinks in Yahoo! Site Explorer:

There was 8000+ backlinks, so I randomly selected a few a see where he's getting the link. Now this is where things get interesting.

About all the sites use a same theme, and have the same wording at the footer. And if you search for their backlinks, there's even more of such sites.

Something can be gained from this. This is sort of a linkwheel, but more effective.

    I saw two things that stood out.
    1. looks like he has several sites that link to each other
    2. he has bought footer links on a couple of free blog themes
    A saw a couple of sites all using this theme Lylibellule - Home which has his link in the footer. It's a very nice theme btw.

    It's a great trick for gaining lots of backlinks if you can either develop a popular theme or buy footer links on one.

    Often times on a lot of the free WP theme sites, they will mod the themes they are hosting and add links into the footers themselves for exactly this purpose.

    I don't know why I am not doing this myself since it has to be the easiest way of getting a massive number of backlinks.

      I've done this with wordpress themes for some time now. Set up properly it also brings thousands of visitors looking for themes. You get natural backlinks from the many wordpress theme directories as a big bonus.

      I offered this to other webmasters here on Warriors but they didn't seem to understand the concept. This isn't an x amount of backlinks that you drop in an x amount of times so even though its extremely powerful it isn't instant like people want.

      Plus the most effective way of doing this is hosting the theme file on YOUR site so that people backlink to it naturally. Doing that guarantees you a backlink from several PR4 and up sites but again people didn't understand the power of it.


      Google claims to discount footer links but a properly designed theme doesn't need to put the link where Google would identify it as a footer link.

      Powerful and probably one of the easiest to implement link bait strategies. The last site I did this on got a some nice backlinks from bloggers (including a top wordpress theme blog that had one of my themes in the top ten niche themes), hundreds of backlinks from installs and some High PR sites from wordpress theme directories.

      Meanwhile in a month or two it started having a few thousand visitors unrelated to search engines.
