I'm new here and need advice. Can anyone recommend a good SEO/SEM company to help me with my website? What's a reasonable price to pay for SEO/SEM? I don't want to get ripped off.

Im sure there would be many popel on the WF whom would help you with this. Look for individuals whom have good postings and a good rep on the SEO thread (this thread).

    Best of luck!

My website is with my signature. (I'm not allowed to put a link in my posts yet because I'm new here.) It's been up since September 2008 and not making much in the way of sales. Home page is a page rank 3 according to SEOQuake.

I know some things I should be doing but don't have the time or motivation or very much knowledge to do them. On the other hand, I don't have a very big budget either. That's why I'm trying to get advice on what is reasonable to pay for a good SEO/SEM company.

Not all of your pages are being indexed by Google. I checked your robots.txt and links to the pages and they checked out.

Try finding these pages in Google. You can't:

Eco friendly organic dog beds made in the USA | GoGreenDogBeds.com
Eco-friendly bumper dog beds made in the USA | GoGreenDogBeds.com

I'm surprised these aren't indexed. They are only one click from your homepage. There might be more pages like this as well, I'd check to make sure.

Nevertheless, I'd add some additional content to these pages. It looks to Google like there's not much worth indexing on the page. Put up content, then ad a couple links (internal or external) to the page. In a couple of weeks after completing these steps, the pages should be indexed.

Also, I'd recommend getting someone to clean up your code a little bit. Externalize some of the tables. There's a lot of gobbledygook in there that isn't helpful to search engines.

When you're looking for people to perform SEO on your site they should notice these two points. I got this from less than 5 minutes on your site. Make sure the party or person you hire makes actual recommendations for your site. Not just, oh your site needs links and title tags.

Also, if you're on a budget, I would ask some fellow warriors. If you're low on cash you'll get a lot more bang for you buck from a young SEO that actually cares about the success of your website. An agency may make big promises, but be prepared to be let down. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I thought the code was pretty junky but don't know how to fix it.

Do you do SEO for website owners like me?

              Hi Anifunk,

I could certainly help you out. I do SEO for a living, but always outsource my programming type work, which costs a fair bit of $$. I could certainly refer you to someone who I respect that should be able to help you out fairly cheap though. He does great work, but just getting started. I'm just going to warn you though, it's probably a fairly big project.

Send me a PM if you would like his contact info.

Thanks again. I spoke to tech support for my website builder and was told they can help me clean up the code but that I would have to use ftp to externalize the tables and they don't support that.

Are you saying the SEO is a fairly big project or the programming part of it?

Thanks for the recommendation but the address didn't work. I did place a (.) where it says "dot" but no website came up.

Sorry for the late response on this one. The programming doesn't take that much time. It's the link building and content development that require a lot of man hours.

That's okay about the late response. I haven't been on here for a few days anyway. Thanks for answering my question.

I don't know anything about programming but I do know what you mean about the link building and content development taking a long time. That's why I'm looking for help. I don't have much time to do it but not much money to work with either. I guess I'm in a pickle and have to decide which way to go - break the bank and hire an SEO person or do it the difficult, painful and extremely slow way by doing it myself.

if interested PM me and I will send you over a list of tasks that you should do yourself first before you even think about hiring and SEO ( and for the record I am one and I am very expensive )

The list will be free, and I am happy to help out as my girlfriend is having me start a daxi rescue site for her and well I love dogs.

    let me know

Thanks! I can't send PMs yet because I don't have enough posts. Can you send the list to support (at) gogreendogbeds (dot) com? I really appreciate it.

Before I became an SEO, I hired 4-5 different SEO/SEM companies to help me getting organic rankings. None of them ever delivered what they promised, and I learned something very important from my experiences.

A lot of the big time companies have hundreds of even thousands of clients just like you. The one SEO genius at the top cannot possibly service everyone. They hire low paid workers to handle the huge client base. You end up with someone who doesn't know much more then you.

After wasting thousands of dollars and years of hiring SEO/SEM companies I decided to learn it for myself and master it. Today I understand it all but outsource the labor work. If you really want to hire someone, you should at least understand SEO so you can keep track of what they are doing.

I can't emphasize enough how important this is. When I get approached by people to handle their SEO, I usually educate them before accepting them. That's the way to do it in my opinion, and only then hire an SEO. Good luck with your search.

I can't suggest some names for you but I can give you things to consider in looking for an SEO company. Try to look at their price, package and their reputation among their past clients. That's the common thing you need to know.
