Guest Posting and Link Buying

I've been guest posting for a while now. I start by commenting on blogs I feel are related before I request a guest post.

It works rather well in terms of quality links but it takes alot of time to network and build a reputation for each niche.

While the direct traffic and quality backlinks are worthwhile.. I was just wondering about another more faster approach.

If I were to outright ask for a guest post with a view to paying consideration for it.. would I be reported to Google for buying links?

If you pay for links it is against Google's TOS as I understand it. So if Google finds out, chances are they're not gonna be happy about it.

That having been said some people who engage in this behavior are more slick about it than others.

What you can consider doing, if you want to stay 100% white hat, is to write some top quality, well edited content, and send it to a blogger you don't even know. A good guest post means less work for the blogger. So even if you have no past relationship, there is a good chance you'll get posted.

There are a lot of things that are considered white hat in the SEO world but in Google's world they are a big no no. In a perfect internet, Google would only count natural links of love. When you do bookmarks, content sites, profile links, or any type of manufactured links Google is not a fan. The same goes for buying links.

I'm not saying I don't do these white hat methods. Buying links is another level up of things Google doesn't like. They are easily detectable in most cases because the seller is selling to multiple people to maximize his revenue from the page.

I prefer aggressive white hat SEO to get speedy rankings. Everyone has their own style. Experiment and see what works for you. To answer your question, yes you could definitely be reported. But your competition can also report you. So can anyone with a computer. Don't stress it, just build quality links and enjoy your rankings!

Each website is unique and my strategy sort of depends on the website, but I'll give you some of the basics I do with nearly every client I've had.

The most important on-page factors revolve around having the right title tags, properly optimized content, and not to high of a keyword density (no keyword stuffing). Making sure the coding is setup properly so Google can crawl the site. Having a larger site helps a lot because you can play with the internal linking power.

The most important off-page factors revolve around have a lot of high quality backlinks from trusted websites. You don't even need more then your competition if you can beat them out quality over quantity. This involves blasting quality content all over the net. Doing the standards such as social bookmarking, article submissions, directories, etc

If you can get most of this stuff right you should be approaching the top, and after that measure your site against the top guy and measure/adjust accordingly.

    Thanks everyone.

I'll stay away from the buying part. I guess the links i currently get from guest posting.. even though time consuming are worth alot of quality.
