so do i.

But many people simply don't know how to do it right or they simply spam, or use places where there are already a zillion OBL (outbound links). I also had linkbuilders which made 300+ backlinks ALL WITH THE SAME FRICKING ANCHOR TEXTS. Some SEOs/Link builders just dont use common sense...

I think if you are build you links on the smart way with quality text that is as before, Google sees it as something good and make good position for your site

Can you please explain that more deeply? do you mean wrapping more text around your links?

Exactly, each time if it's possible, make a unique article of 400-500 words would be the best and make some link structure, wait and see how Google will look to your links differently.
Also on the sites with high pr such as wordpress be very careful, and play smart to get very powerful backlinks.
First make some posts several times, with fresh and unique articles, then after for example fifth time post one more article with only one backlink, It is a very good strategy, you will get very powerful backlink to your money site.
Or for example, on HubPages you have to put not more then two links or otherwise you will look like a spammer and they will delete your post, ets ets.

Profile links, even on sites where the index has good PR, don't have much PR themselves as a page. Often they don't have followed links pointing to them so that they're never spidered, never indexed. Without incoming links, they won't do much for you.

Thats right. Thats why I ping them as I build them.
But back to my first post, in this moments it seems like there is something happening, several keywords have jumped up in rankings and even three new sites with only profile links just appeared on the 1 page, so I guess the bottom of this thread has fallen out. High PR profile links still works great, just a little later than usual.

I've never done any scientific testing but I do get much better results with putting my link in some sort of relevant content. Whether that's just a brief paragraph in a profile or about me page or in a signature, much better than just leaving a link or list of links.

Profile links still have great value, but you need to backlink a lot more to the profile page. Just throwing up a link and pinging it just isn't good enough. Wait, let me say this - it is good enough to get indexed and found. It's not good enough if you want to make that link very powerful.

What I do with each profile link is:

- 100 bookmarks
- 100 blog comments
- 100 pings

This gives the link a lot more juice, and then when it gets found it effects my rankings in a positive way, specially when you do a couple hundred of them.
