Is There A Tool Or Site Specifically To Check Page Load Time?

With one of my sites, all the images are slowing it down a little so I want to work on speeding it up. I'd like some kind of gauge so I know how fast it loads, and how it compares to other sites. I've heard Google is paying more attention to these factors recently, so the faster the better. Any help much appreciated
