That part of the homepage which is visible on the screen once the url is typed is called as the landing page. If we scroll down further the contents of the homepage in detailed text form may come if the home page is long. so landing page is the portion that is visible on the screen without scrolling. It is written with catchy and attractive contents. Landing page is considered to be vital for a website.

      Hi richardjome,

The term "landing page" is a generic term for the web page you land on after clicking a link. Depending on the context it is being used it can have more specific meaning.

In PPC advertising it refers to the final page that you land on after clicking an advertisement. It is typically used to distinguish between a destination page, which may sometimes redirect to another page. The final landing page is called the "landing page".

In Internet Marketing the term "Landing Page" is often used to denote a page that was specially created to maximized conversions for a particular product or service offering. While this page may be part of a larger website, the navigation elements are usually deemphasized to keep the vistor focused on the offer rather than navigating away from the page.

Landing page also known as a lead capture page. It appears when a potential customer clicks on an advertisement or a search-engine result link. The page will usually display content that is a logical extension of the advertisement or link, and that is optimized to feature specific keywords or phrases for indexing by search engines.

In pay per click (PPC) campaigns, the landing page will also be customized to measure the effectiveness of different advertisements. By adding a parameter to the linking URL, marketers can measure advertisement effectiveness based on relative click-through rates.

There are two types of landing pages, reference and transactional.

A reference landing page presents information that is relevant to the visitor. These can display text, images, dynamic compilations of relevant links, or other elements. Reference landing pages are effective if they meet the objectives of their publishers, which may be associations, organizations or public service entities. The visitor traffic is immediate as the Adword relies on Google advertising to drive visitors to the web.

A transactional landing page seeks to persuade a visitor to complete a transaction such as filling out a form or interacting with advertisements or other objects on the landing page. The goal is to make immediate or eventual sale of a product or service. If information is to be captured, the page will usually withhold information until some minimal amount of visitor information is provided, typically an email address and perhaps a name and telephone number as well - enough to "capture the lead" and add the prospect to a mailing list. A visitor taking the desired action on a transactional landing page is referred to as a conversion.

There is also a third landing page apart from these two above mentioned which is commonly used in Direct Marketing, Squeeze Page. These web pages are much targeted and focus on capturing information about a visitor. These pages have a very high conversion rate and these collect data for an upcoming targeted e-mail or direct contact campaigns.

Every page of a site indexed by search engines is a potential landing page.
The goal of search engine optimization (SEO) is to leave few landings to chance. The content of the page and/or links to the page are optimized for very specific, carefully researched keywords and phrases. Those keywords and phrases that are of most value for "organic" or "natural" search engine optimization are those most likely to be used by prospective customers in their search engines. Good choices will cause the site to rank higher in search engine results.

Landing page is itself a webpage, when some clicks the anchor and you are directed towards a webpage, what does it mean you are landing on that page. The page you are landing on is the landing page for you.

After studding landing pages for moths I can tell you one thing. Learn as much as possible about creating them. The way you design them will effect your conversion or click through rate and depending on quality score they can make or brake your PPC campaign. No matter what anyone tells you remember there is no golden rule when comes to creating a landing page and trust me I have learned that the hard way. For example lending page optimized for PPC will be different than landing page design for organic traffic that concentrate only on the conversion rate. Spend allot time learning about it it will be worth it.

A landing page is a web page where people are directed to or "land" once they click on an online advertisement or search listing.Landing pages are designed to be highly relevant to the advertisement or search listing and encourage users to complete a "call to action".There are several types of landing page. Sales site page and review site page are the most popular in selling goods.
Sales Site Page: A straight sales page links the visitor directly to the merchant order page.
Review Site Page: A review-style page on which an affiliate provides reviews of several different products or services.

  • Maybe it's time to not allow posts and sig files until a predetermined time.

This is the kind of Idiotic CRAP POST I would expect to find from DP not WarriorForum.

This CHUMP is doing nothing more than trying to plug his sig file with an idiotic question!!!

I would have normally passed over this thread very quickly, but seeing your post, I wanted to add my own thoughts to it.

      You are perfectly right!

Furthermore, looking at richardjome's signature (carefully chosen KW's as anchortext to a 'landing page' - lol) I cannot but totally agree with you.

It is obvious that he knows what that is and specifically designed the thread to blatantly add his sig to it. There are also only 2 posts on his profile (at the time I'm writing this) so it is probably simply a method to get those backlinks from his sig, not necessarily expecting traffic (as the topic of the website he tries to push up is obviously different from this thread and forum.)

Maybe a moderator should look at the thread and let us continue comment on, for the benefit of newbs, maybe, but remove the sig from there? Wouldn't that be a good 'punishment'?

The landing page concept is quite simply a good way to build your list and to differentiate your PPC's from all others when it comes to affiliate marketing..should be a one page affair with an enticing title and a way to collect emails

The term, landing page, normally refers to the page that you 'land on' after clicking an online advertisement...this will normally direct you to respond for more information, such as a short questionnaire or form...essentially, some type of call to action.

You should create targeted landing pages anytime you can control where people will be coming from, and your goal is a specific transaction such as sales, registrations, sign-ups, etc. This is particularly true if you are paying for the traffic, with banner ads, sponsor links, or pay-per-click.
