Help with adding rss to my static website

I just got Big Mike's RSSBot and am having some trouble. I created a rss feed for my static website. Then uploaded it to my root folder like the directions say to do and now I am not sure how to get a valid rss feed. I tried to use the link mywebsite.com/rss.xml but the w3c tells me its not valid. Not sure exactly how this works if someone could give me step by set directions that would be cool!

    RSSbot names the .xml file RSS.xml, it is case sensitive. So your url should be mywebsite.com/RSS.xml
