I am trying to optimize my website using a keyword phrase. When I do a search in quotes the phrase ranks well. However, when I take the quotes away the page dissappears into the abyss. I dont even know how far back it is.(BTW:Is there anyway to check how far back the site is ranked) The other do sites have the same keywords, but not the exact phrase.

Why wont my site rank well with the phrase not quoted when other sites are not using the exact phrase?

    Hey There...

Is this a new site you have set up... Because the reason I have noticed my sites rank well in "exact" terms in the early stages is because i don't have enough backlinks...

Articles, forum posting, video, using the backlink packs available here on the Warrior forum..

I would just concentrate on getting backlinks to your site and its page positioning will rise...

Plus can i ask what were the amount of searches "for you keyword" exact phrase...

I would like to find out to see if you may have gone into a tough keyword...

I threw up an article a few months ago with paid hosting with my own domain. It is just a one page website, the article and a photo.

I have only created one backlink but I dont think it was useful because it was on the same host with a different domain. From what I am understanding this is still considered an internal link. right?

I used the free google keyword tool and used a quoted "keyword phrase" with over 1,000 searches with less than 20,000 sites. There are actually 6,230 sites with the quoted "keyword phrase".

Even the sites that use the keyword phrase have periods or commas between the words, where as mine does not. I would think that would/should count for something.

I expected to have the site rank higher than sites using the same keywords but not using the exact phrase.
