My homepage SERP is GENERIC...how to fix it?

Hi everyone. Lately, I've been getting a valuable double listing on Google, but for some reason my home page is above the post page and it just says NameofWebsite.com and then under it is a couple random paragraphs.
This is a wordpress blog and I was wondering if anyone could help me adjust what I need to adjust so that my home page shows up with a short sentence next to its name.
I'm sure its not too tough of a fix...but I can't figure it out.
