Ok, this is probably a really stupid question to some of you really experienced backlinkers out there, but how do you determine what the URL of your backlink is? I have been creating some backlinks and have read I should take steps to get them indexed by submitting my backlink URL's to rss feeds and ping sites and social bookmarking sites.
Thanks!

Type in link:www.yourdomain to google, and it will pop out.

However, google's very slow to add them. Bing webmaster tools is faster, or yahoo site explorer.

I am trying to figure out how to determine what the URL of a self created backlinks would be. (I know you won't know them specifically) I just need to know, if I create, say a profile backlink from a forum, where do I find the URL to submit to social bookmarking sites and pinging services for indexing.
      Thanks!

Site exploer will show you all the backlinks that it has found, but for a forum profile if your looking for the link theres a few differnt ways depending on the forum. Usually the easist way I do it is right after you create your profile, on the main page of the forum at the bottom it will say active users, and welcome to our newest member "aprilm" with a link that you can click on to go to your profile page. If that doesnt work see if there is a member list, and find your name on there. If all else fails just make a post on the forum and click on your user name in the post.

Right. Thanks. I understand how to go about viewing my links after I create them. But say I want to index them. How do I do that? I have read here on the forums that I should submit my backlinks to rss feeds, social bookmarking sites and ping services. How do I go about submitting those backlinks. Sorry if my question is a bit confusing.

After you have created your link, view your profile (some forums have a feature that allows you to view your profile as others would see it) Copy the url of that page from your browser and ping it. If you want to submit it as an rss feed you will need software to create an rss feed out of your profile url. This will prove to be a bit time consuming though if you are building a large number of backlinks. I recommend you using something like backlink booster or backlink indexer express to make things easier for you.

Note that different platforms have different ways for getting to your publicly viewable profile (or at least getting their in the fewest # of steps). Most forums will say something like "powered by ABC" in the footer.

If you let me know what specific platform(s) you are dealing with I can tell you the fastest way ;-)

I am using Angela's backlinks, and they have mostly been profile forum links. I have only done a couple and one is powered by Simple Machines, another by PunBB....

Yahoo Site Exploer seems to have backlinks show up the quickest, you can also export them to a file so you have them all. Only 1,000 though as far as I know.

Someone else can help you with that, I dont currently ping my profile backlinks. I usually create a profile, then go back and make a post on the message board and its been working ok for me, ive seen some of my profiles show up in google webmaster tools as backlinks using that method. I really think its hit or miss, depending on the forum and such but thats just me.

There is a thread here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...PiRCm8IU49e9TP

They will probably be able to help you more then me in that area

I would like to know this info myself Tom. Especially for

    1.) Vbullettin
    2.) Expressionengine
    3.) ip board
    4.) Simple machines

I am sure there has to be an easier way than how I am currently doing it for these platforms. There are probably others I need to know too but these will do for now. Thanks..
