SEO and Backlinks

Hi.

Say my domain name is 'cheapcookers.com' and I did a 1 page micro-nieche on 'Cheap Cookers'.

If I want to expand on the site to include various brands like say 'Whirlpool Cookers', I will wite an article on this new subject along more backlinks to the 'Whirlpool Cookers' webpage.

How much do the existing backlinks from the 'Cheap Cookers' help at all with ranking?

    It won't!....if you create a new page within your site you will have to optimize it seperately.

    The only exception is HIGH authority sites like CNN or BBC etc, any page that they create within their site will naturally get high rankings...You're mini site will not.

    I do agree to some extent that you need to optimize new pages seperately. However, having pages that rank good do help other pages, however small or big the site. It is the "extent" of rankings that different.

    I'm saying this because that's what I experience many times. I write something on a topic, it gets linked to, and suddenly, all other articles I've written on the same topic rise in ranking.

    I would suggest creating a separate page, though the way mentioned is possible, not the most effective and efficient.
