I have a $1000 budget for Adwords and I am noticing something but am not sure if it is true.

When I first started, I set my PPC cap to be $0.07 and I was getting a lot of clicks from the list of 300 keywords. All of the clicks were around $0.05 - $0.07. Still, a lot of the higher priced keywords didn't show up.

However, when I changed my PPC cap to be $0.50, google no longer seems to give me any of those $0.07 keywords any longer, it seems to sit only on the $0.30 - $0.50 PPC keywords.

So my question is this: If you change your PPC max on Adwords, does it for some reason automatically stop giving you access to the lower priced keywords that you are targeting?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Edit: I'm doing $100/day accelerated and not reaching that

My answer to that would be no google would not stop you accessing those keys / clicks / money / profits.

Google is a well oiled money making machine there would be no reason for the big G to say it does not want your bit of apple pie if it's there served up on a plate.

Thanks for the response tryinhere, I figured that was pretty much the case, but it still has me wondering why I am not getting any of those $0.06PPC and only the $0.38PPC ones. It doesn't seem to be a matter of daily budget, since (at least today), only about 20% of my budget was used.

    Cheers!

yes champ but has your average position increased to number one now not say position 11 or similar, you can not take front and center top position and expect to not pay the fiddler man some extra pennies

Ti, I have noticed the same thing. Google tells us that the system works in a way that those things wouldn't happen. But I see them happen too. You increase the max bid, and they cut you off...

      Hi kIwOk168,

Is your campaign set to manual cpc bidding or automatic? If it's automatic, this is exactly what i experienced myself. Google definately makes more bucks if you get the more expensive clicks. That's why i'd never again set my campaigns to automatic bidding, it's kinda like saying: "Please profit from me as much as you can..."

Who is this "kIwOk168" you speak of?

I actually had it set to $0.07, and it was giving $0.05-0.07 PPC, and then I set it to $0.50 and they all seemed to change to only $0.38+ PPC. Both of those are using the manual caps.

A caveat though, I've only been using Adwords for less than 24 hours on this campaign (and overall), so it definitely could change.

Ahh, I was not aware that the position reflected the price you pay. Interesting, because when I think about it from the end-user perspective, I'm either interested and will click, or not interested and will not click.

Thanks again for the comment, it helps, believe me

Ti, your position is calculated by your QS times your bid. If you increase your bids, you will increase your position. You will also increase your costs. Here's an example using QS of 7:

    Before: bid = $0.07, rank = 49
    After: bid = $0.50, rank = 350

Let's say that before, your ad was ranked 8th. Your cost is dependent on the 9th placed ad's QS and bid. Being in a lower position, you know his rank is 49 or less. The lower his rank and the higher your QS, the lower you pay.

Now, bidding higher, say your ad is ranked 3rd. Your cost is now dependent on the 4th placed ad. It is logical to assume that they are bidding more than seven cents (assuming his QS is the maximum 10, he would be bidding 35 cents or less).

That's how your cost is calculated. Google doesn't "give access" you keywords at a certain price. It is all figured out by your bid, your QS and those of your competitors. You changed your bid so you changed the parameters so naturally, you should expect different results in position and costs.
