Questions about backlinking

I have a couple of questions which I am hoping some kind soul will answer for me....

Why is it that backlinks from the same source can have different PR? eg I have backlinks from standard places such as Ezine, Folkd, Digg and so on, sometimes I get a PR3 backlink and sometimes PR0. What causes the difference?

Are PR0 backlinks of any significant value?

Also I am struggling to understand the concept of 'link juice' which I see people talking about all the time - any chance of a brief explanation of what this means?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pauline

Link Juice= the relative quality of incoming links. Basically a PR 3 backlink gives you more juice then a PR 0.

With Ezine I can't draw any firm conclusions, partially because I've only been writing for them for about 6 months or so and I have only 70 approved articles. It does seem that more views of an article and especially comments help PR.

I can't speak to the exact reasons some pages within a site end up with dramatically different PR.

You would obviously want a website with a higher PR, but also, if you think a site shows signs of significant growth in the future, you could acquire a backlink there if you imagine that their PR will grow over time.

  • Page Rank is not Site Rank. Pages are ranked and links on those specific pages effect the ranking and how much "link juice" is distributed.

Focus on traffic and relevancy and forget about page rank. It means nothing in and of itself. If you have no Page Rank you should worry, other than that if you have ANY page rank you are in the good graces of Google and you should focus on building links that deliver real traffic.

IM IQ got it right. Each page has a notional PR score. So, just cos Digg is PR8, your profile page is likely to be PR0; or EZineArty is PR6, your recent article is likely to be PR0 or PR- There is allegedly benefit of a link on one of these high PR sites - that is, a PR0 page on a PR8 site is worth more link juice than a PR0 page on a PR1 site. (That's why Angelas and Pauls links are supposedly so good.)

Forget about PR and just build links to the pages you want people to land on. Hopefully the page is built around a low competition keyword phrase.

Many people said content is the king because quality backlink resulted by quality contents.
    Thanks
