Is it true that site-wide backlinks are bad for SERPs? I have heard that side-wide links can hurt rankings in Google and Bing.

So far, I have avoided these links, but sometimes blogroll links look so tempting that its very difficult to resist.

    Not necessarily. If you are just linking a couple of related sites together, that is usually fine. However, if you are SELLING sitewide links that can be a real problem, especially if they are unrelated to your content. And the more there are the more likely it will be an issue, but even that depends on the content of the other site. One viagra link could get you.

    No site wide links are good for search engines as you getting link on every page of the blog or site but you need to get these links only from your theme based sites.
