Identifying follow/nofollow links?

I know about follow/nofollow (and the theories behind link-sculpting) but I would like to know how to identify them for backlinking purposes.

Am I doing this correctly?

I'm using 'view source' to see page source code...

I can see that some internal links are "nofollow"

There's no similar attribute on sig links and links in the actual posts. Does this mean they are "follow"

OR

Might there be a global nofollow applied.

Thanks, Kev

If you use the Firefox browser you could download an add on that shows which links are follow and nofollow.

The name sounds strange but it is called "NoDoFollow"

Any page you are on has the links highlighted to show you which ones are and are not. You also have the option of turning the thing on or off.

Thanks Matt but I'm finding Firefox a bit unstable on my machine

Does anyone know if the method I've outlined above is right?

Matt outlined an easy method above to find dofollow/nofollow links on the page without the hassles of guessing and looking at code.

If Firefox is giving your computer problems, install Google Chrome (which is the fastest browser by far) and install the Chrome SEO plugin:

    https://chrome.google.com/extensions...gpdceadpfaoclj

A small icon will appear in the top right hand section of your browser. When you get to a page, click on the icon. At the very bottom you will see a box that says "show nofollow", click on the box.

Every nofollow link on the page will have a red box around it. This is much easier than looking at code and it will save you time.

If you use "view source", once you find a
    rel="nofollow"
attribute in one link, it is nofollow, if not, it is dofollow.

If your browser is Firefox, you can download a SearchStatus plug-in to highlight nofollow links,
to be honest, it is more convenient.

Get the Firefox SEO plugin, no only does it highlight nofollow links, but it has many other resources on the fly, like alexa, PR, and so on. I use it in daily browsing and can usually find quite a few backlink gems!

You can also use SEO for firefox tool to know the link is Do follow or No follow. Besides it, there are a big number of tools available which help to know do follow links.

      Thanks

Just install no-follow addon from mozilla site and it will highlight all no follow links in a site with red color.

Thanks everyone for (esp dwightsmith2009) for your help and advice.
      So many plugin reccomendations.
I'm going out tomorrow to buy a new PC so I can run Firefox in a more stable fashion - then I'm gonna try some of these plugins!

If I understand correctly, SEO for Firefox highlights NOFOLLOW links.
So every other link (not highlighted) is DOFOLLOW.
Maybe someone already familiar with the plugin will confirm this.

        Hi,

did you harvest blogs or something else?
Give me your list and I know what is dofollow or not.

I will put it in my software and within one minute I know if it is or not.
1,000 harvested? No problem my friend

        Regards,

        Mike
