Writing articles is for mugs dude. Backlinks is only good for SEO and getting you rpage up the ranks. But you dont even know what you need to rank high for, assuming you havent tested out which keywords convert.

    Does this make sense?

Hi Resume...the first thing you should do is to do some keyword research find 10 or 20 keywords that you think you'd like to rank for. Check those keywords' exact search numbers using the Google Adwords Keyword Tool (it's free) and then take a look at the first page of Google results for each, checking PR and number of backlinks for each site on the first page. If you find a keyword or keywords with competition of PR 4 or less and less than 2000-3000 backlinks, those might be good ones to target with your backlinking and article marketing efforts.

Also, try adding social bookmarking into the mix, and also comment on some job forums (legitimately, not spam...always be genuine). Right now is a great time for a resume service to make bank with so many looking for jobs!

What about Craigslist for traffic (you'll really need to set yourself apart though as there will be a lot of competition), small print ads taken out in local papers, etc?

      Hi resume,

You have alot of questions and you could write a few books trying to answer them. From the sound of your thread you're trying to push your website up the search engines for this you'll have to do some SEO. To start with see the quote from the post below on keyword research.

Once you've don't this you've need to optimise your website for the keyword(s) you've just researched.

With this done you'll need a backlinking strategy. You can outsource it if you like or do it manually or both. Alot of people in this forum use angelas backlinks, this is a good place to start.

Also you'll get backlinks from your article marketing. The thing to remember about this type of marketing is you need to get articles out there, I don't just mean 1 or 2 directories I mean 1 or 2 thousand directories. The more exposure you have the more traaffic you'll get.

Once your backlinks are out there they won't just show up as a backlink you'll need to get them indexed by google for them to have any effect and they'll also need to be do follow to show up as a link. I have an indexing strategy, there's an overview below.

Goto HTML2RSS.com set up an account and create RSS feeds out of your backlinks if they don't already have feeds.

Once this is done submit your feed to the aggregators such as feedping.com and pingoat.

Then submit them to a few good bookmarking websites.

Create a google sitemap to help google index all of your pages.

I could go on and on. There's alot of good information in this forum I'd suggest you write down all of your questions and search the forum for answers to each as you'll not find everything you want to know in 1 thread. You might also want to check the WSO there's some really good stuff in there for a bargain.

Seems like you are at a loss for ideas and guidance... OK, first you must step back and analyze what you have done, and where you could have gone wrong. REGARDLESS of what others may have experienced with article writing and distribution, it is STILL a very effective way of marketing, AND it is free. AS long as you are writing, GOOD informative and quality articles. This said, let's go back to the start.

1- You must do ON-Site/ON-PAGE SEO. This means you must strategically place keywords throughout you site. You must reinforce your sites Meta Tags. You should include QUALITY content within your site. There are a number of things that need to be done within your site in order to be completely optimized. You may need to hire an SEO expert in order to have done accordingly.
2- After on-page optimization, you move on to OFF-page optimization. This is where article writing and distributing plays an important role (If you want I can recommend a good article writer, just send me a PM). You also include backlink building in the off page optimization. Forum and blog commenting, classifieds listings among other things.
3- ALWAYS remember that no SEO is complete without promotion. In addition to optimizing your page, you should always continue to advertise your site.
4- PERSISTENCE, CONSISTENCY, and PATIENCE are important factors in online marketing.

I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Threads asking how to do Article Marketing come up quite often here - so I have a standard reply - I hope this helps:

Two brilliant threads to read about article marketing are these:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...marketing.html

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eza-first.html

Read them both - all the way through - and take notes.

For further information I recommend the following directory - It is education in article marketing - a guide book and monthly newsletters - with a directory thrown in! You can read what Warriors think about it here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...alks-walk.html

I can also recommend the WSO's from this guy:

This guy also has some good stuff - some article marketing some on other things

    Hope this helps.

Darren is right, there are books out there about each detail you asked. It's a heavy topic but there's already a lot of good advice in just 5 posts.

My suggestion to expedite things is get some free tools to get you going fast. Market Samurai has an excellent keyword tool that you can use for free for 7 days. That will help you zero in on the major traffic keywords and money keywords. It also has a tool to see what your competitors are doing--what their articles are about, where they're getting their links from (and where you can go to get links from as well), where you can monetize your resume niche, etc.

Regarding backlinks, Google is terrible about showing only a fraction of backlinks it has indexed. Yahoo's Site Explorer is far better at cataloging links than Google (or better and sharing links it has found, I'll put it that way). Go to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ to get a better picture of the number of links attributed to your site. If you're still not satisfied, ping some of the links you recently created so that they get indexed.

    Good luck!

This is what I use to drive traffic to my website, and it works pretty well. 1. Article marketing
    2. Forum marketing (just find high traffic forums in your niche and help people in your niche like I am doing right now)
    3. Posting articles on web 2.0 sites. Jamian
