Send PPC traffic to squeeze page or sales letter?

Hey guys, I am a bit new to internet marketing and i am still learning as i go.

I am about to launch my second product which is a $27 ebook.

From you guys' experience, is it better for me to send my ppc traffic directly to my sales letter, or to a squeeze page and try to convert prospects through email?

From different sources, i have heard that google frowns upon sending traffic straight to a sales letter, is this true?

I look forward to all of you humble responses. Thank You.

I think if you learn how to create your squeeze page correctly you'd want to send them there. Or what you could do is send them to sales letter and if they leave that page without purchasing then you can have an exit pop-up to join your list with a free offer. I'd test it out and see what happens. I think it depends on the product and your approach and the information on your squeeze page since (knock on wood) I haven't had trouble with sending PPC from Google to a squeeze.

      Thanks for the reply Jenn.

One question though, how would i go about testing what converts better?

Do not follow this advice. Google clearly states that you may NOT use popups on your landing pages. If you do, you will be slapped and quite possibly banned.

  • The goal with an Adwords campaign is to get to 100% ROI as quickly as possible (so you can recycle the ad money back into traffic.)

In most niches the best way to get this accomplished is to send them to a landing page which is precisely designed to get them to give you their email address. The landing pages that work best are not always your "typical" squeeze page.

In one niche we are testing a "quiz" page that doesn't ask for the email until page 2.

This page does remarkably well in the niche with the keywords and ads we are running.

It then moves them to a low-thresh hold offer that converts well to recoup our investment quickly.

We then have the opportunity to sell them over and over again.

Keep in mind: if your only product is a one-time $27 sale, you are going to spend most of that just getting the leads on your list. It will cover the cost of your adwords campaign, but not much else.

        Quiz quiz quiz...

In a LOT of niches a quiz will enable you to just CLEAN HOUSE conversion wise.

A quiz is interactive and it REALLY pull's people in. The desire to find out something about themselves, plus actually give them something to do is powerful.

Plus, if your quiz script is advanced enough, you can capture demographic data and other stuff to actually making your 2nd page (often a squeeze page) to change based on their responses.

Basically, it can personalize the squeeze page based on answers. This can just skyrocket opt-in's and allow you to really quickly recoup on your costs.

Thanks for the great advice, z quiz sounds very interesting to test, how would i go about getting some more information on developing a quiz type squeeze page. I f you have any examples i would love to see them.

Exactly, split test the both and decide which converts best.
Use the Google Optimizer tool in your adwords account.

Every Niche is different, so do not buy any assumption from any other as you
are spending money at PPC, you must test to find for works for you to have best
    return over your Investment.

    Regards,

Good luck getting a good quality score with a squeeze page. I am having a hard enough time with a regular site let alone a site directing to a squeeze page.

I'm surprised by the answers here.

You should be sending it to your squeeze page (that's what you designed the squeeze page for, to generate leads because it increases sales).

If the person is interested in your product and you have a good sales page, then they'll enter their email in the squeeze page. After that, you can follow up if you don't make the immediate sale. If they don't sign up for the squeeze page, they weren't going to buy anyways.

Squeeze pages don't have to do bad in quality score in PPC, it's all about how you design it.

I have to agree: The 1st objective is to secure the prospect's contact information, and that's the squeeze page. But the squeeze page is a marketing tool/device in its own right. There should be an 'ethical bribe' offered there to secure the contact info.

The sales page is always there and, hopefully, it's a strong effort. A good sales page/letter will get its predictable response (3% / 6% / 10% ) depending on the strength of the value proposition (offer). But, if you've collected the contact info. along the way, you will live to fight another day...

      Good luck

Yes BUT a bad squeeze page will murder both your chances of a sale AND your lead captures.

        That is why you test.

I've got products that just sell like crazy with no lead capture and every time I, or any one of the smart affiliates, stands in the way of that traffic sales and leads drop by a huge margin.

The one big rule in marketing is that there is no such thing as a rule.

Some times a squeeze or a pre-sell flat out doesn't work and the only way you know this is if you test.

I'm just adding that in hear because it is easy to roll out the stock "must capture leads" setup without thinking about it.

I try to capture leads almost all the time but once in a while you'll get a surprise.

Also remember that he can build a "buyers" list. I understand if he was promoting an affiliate program to build a list but sometimes it's beneficial to build a buyers list. Then again, it depends how well the page converts. This is why I would test both.

Thatz right, I have sent it most of the times to my squeeze page, also make sure your letter has been well formated

Make a test before you do it, very important.

Combine it. Send them to your sales copy but put in an action script so when they mouse over to leave the page your opt in form loads up with a special offer trying to grab their information before they head out.

In my experience, here's what works well...

Send traffic to sales letter first. You have to make sure your offer works and you make money. Once you have a good conversion rate (Shoot for 1% conversion for starters), then you create a squeeze page, and send traffic there.

This way, you're confident that your offer actually works.

Curious to know how to test squeeze pages, I have 3, how do I alternate traffic between them? Thanks.
