I think I finished my first adsense site, but seeing how this is my first of the kind, I'm not sure if I'm missing some crucial step that I simply don't know I should take.

This is what I've done so far:

Finished site (incl. 5 original articles)
Gotten approved for adsense
Submitted 1 article to ezine which I'm waiting to get approved
Joined 3 forums with do follow profiles and put the URL of my site in the profile (but I haven't mad any posts)
Pinged on pingler.com

I was gonna wait for my site to get indexed before I add adsense to it. Should I do it before it gets indexed instead of waiting?

Is there more I need to do or should I start working on my next site already?

There's plenty more you could do.

    Submit a press release
    Book mark it
    create and submit RSS feeds
comment on some blogs related to your site/niche
Submit more articles to other directories
Create web 2.0 properties to link to your site.
    on and on and on.

But the question is whether you need to do that or not. Some of my sites I simlply built and did nothing else. Other I have back linked the crap out of and nothing is happening.

I would add Adsense now and see no reason why you should wait. I always add Adsense before they get indexed. In fact for the sites I did no back linking to it's probably the only reason it got indexed.

Get to work on another site and give your current site a week or two to see where it ends up and then make the decision on whether or not you need to do more work to it.

Matt offered some great advice above. I recommend waiting until it gets indexed to add adsense - this sometimes makes the process go faster. In the meantime, start bookmarking your website and adding more content to the website itself. Ping the website each time you add content.

Make sure to generate a sitemap and use your google account to log in to google webmastertools to submit your sitemap. This gives google an extra little push to get your website indexed. Continue preparing and articles to submit and then wait for the indexing to occur. After that, start slowly building backlinks.

There is no need to wait for your website to get indexed before putting your adsense. For me once my new site has been built, my adsense goes in. Then I start the usual backlinking to get my site indexed. It has never failed me.

    1. No need to wait. put AdSense code in.
    2. Spam all over the web (profile links, blog comments etc) for 3-4 days.
    3. Move to your second site.

I agree with matt, there is lot more link building that you can do as you have not done very much at all.

And add Google analytics to your site, this way you would have better overview what is happening with it.

      Don't put analytics on there.
