Page Highly Ranked in Google

I was wondering if you guys ever change a page up that suddenly gets a higher rank for a particular keyword?

I have a page that is ranking very high for a particular set of words. I am getting tons of hits from it, but the page itself is not optimized to push them through the sales funnel the way I would like it. The way the page is setup right now, the people will be getting exactly what they are searching for but I may not be able to take full advantage of them being there. So, what are your thoughts on changing it up to better suite my desires? Would changing it have an effect on the ranking? Thanks.

      Hi Raygun,

Don't kill the traffic, get in front of it!

Instead of changing it, leave the content that is working for your there. Just add a persuasive pitch to your product or service, along with a form to collect responses. You can feature this new content prominently within the existing page content.

Im no expert and still learning my way through this whole IM world bt ...

if it was me I would look at my google analytics (asuming you have this installed) and note all the keywor searches your customers are using to find the page and then try and optimize the page to sell whilst keeping the search tearms on your page.

Also look into how to split test, I havent done this yet but in your scenario would deffinately look to setting this up so you could keep your original page as is and also test your new optimized page at the same time.

Better qualified warriors could give you more input on this angle.

I fully agree with Dburk. If you've already got traffic coming in, you don't want to change anything without careful consideration that might prevent that traffic from coming. This is purely an on-page thing!

One way is to leave what you have now and start adding more targeted keywords through onsite and offsite seo. Changing your site can affect the current optimization but if you feel that there are more targeted keywords that will bring people to your site and better through your funnel system then you should try so you get the best conversions.

The best way if your worried about onsite is do some offsite keywords and see how those convert and if great then adjust site.
