Mix up your anchor text

A popular ploy has been to get inbound links using the same anchor text. This used to work, but search engines are getting better at recognizing attempts to manipulate rankings; so mix up your anchor text a little if you can by using different, but related terms on internal links and links from other sites if possible. This will also have a positive effect in terms of Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI)

That just doesn't make much sense to me can someone expand on this.

I mean if im trying to rank for the keyword "Green apples" why would I always anchor the text green apples?

  • True LSI is a pipe dream of wishful thinking.

Google has so many metrics they can use to evaluate links. And anchor text is just one of them.

If you want to rank for green apples then focus on green apples.

Varying anchor text is what people believe will set their links off as natural. But what really makes them natural is that they come in to your site from a very wide variety of locations. People will choose to link to you any way they want. Google compares this to their data set and makes a determination.

Will everyone link to your Green Apple site as "Green Apple"... probably not.

But if you are creating your own links it's best to stay pretty tightly focused on your theme.

I wouldn't use Green Apple every time. but I wouldn't change it up much either.

Apples, Green Apples, Green Apple, Buy Apples, Buy Green Apples... the point is the theme is Apples...

There is no "Right" way... and a lot of wrong ways. What you want to focus on is creating value for your visitors. Make link text make sense for your readers.

I always register keyword domains because when people link back to you they will often link as

"www.greenapples.com"... or whatever keyword you choose. And this is true of all the scraper directories. So it helps keep on theme.

Absolutely way better to be bringing offsite google friendly backlinks to you . A lot of the google onpage seo doesn't work as well and google is on to a lot of old school tricks.
