I just received an email from Go Articles listing the new guidelines for putting links in your articles. Nothing good lasts forever, eh?

"
New Article Title Guidelines

  • Titles must NOT contain any URLs
  • Titles must be more than one word
  • Titles must NOT contain HTML tags of any kind
  • Titles must NOT be all upper case or lower case letters
  • Titles must NOT contain repetitive punctuation such as !!! or ???
  • Titles must NOT contain the names of prescription drugs or affiliate programs
New Article Link/URL Guidelines

  • Duplicate links to the same URL in the article body are not allowed.
  • Links in the article body should relate to, or support, your article content.
  • Links that are only used for keyword anchoring to your own site(s) are not allowed.
  • Promotional links for your site, service or product should be restricted to your Author Bio paragraph.
If your articles are not in compliance with the above guidelines, we strongly suggest that you login to your member account and use the Edit function to modify them. Failure to do so could result in summary removal of some, or all, of the articles in your account."

I think that is good idea from GoArticles.com, I had seen many articles on GoArticles.com contains lots of links inside the body. That kind of pages can be considered as spammy pages on the eye of Google. So, that will be a bad remark for goAritcles site itself. To overcome this kind of issues, they may be implementing that change. However, I always use bio area to post my links, Even, I don't go more than one link there to be a decent article

Well when Matt Cutts comes a callin' and says clean up your act or else - we'll de-index your trash ... errr ... I mean quality content - you make a few moves.

Interesting to see how this plays out.

Interesting to be sure. I think more and more stringent article sites are going to become more and more common. That makes syndication of articles more difficult, but should in theory give those of us willing to create quality content a huge advantage.

I was wondering how long it would take before GA did some serious changing.

It had to happen sooner or later.

I tend to keep my links to the bio bit anyway regardless of whether I am posting at GA or not so at least I don't have to go through articles and make sure I comply.

Have any of you received backlinks from Go Articles. I had a few articles posted (original and good quality) but they weren't indexed. I gave up on Go articles a long time a go.

Links that are only used for keyword anchoring to your own site(s) are not allowed.
Is this within the article or also in the bio box? Can we use anchor links in the bio box still?

This is the only one I'd have an issue with if we couldn't use them in the bio box, everything else seems fair.

What a pain in the butt. I have 4 links in all my GoArticles, going to waste a lot of time fixing them.

Just one more example of why we should be building up our own domains and not relying on content posted on others' properties.

I wonder if GOA is going to be checking all of the existing articles, or if this is going to be more of a going forward thing.

I guess I had better go and change my article. This seems a bit severe but probably well overdue. Thanks for telling is and I will go and make the necessary changes

-I wonder what they mean by this...specifically...?
I suppose this could hurt a lot of marketers - assuming the worst.

Only maximum of 3 links can be include in an article. This is the limit and the best practice is maximum of 2 links should be included in an article.

This is very strict rules for the members. Now the dofollow links are not allowed in body of the article. I think For certain limit this rules are good to reduce the spamming on site.

  • I've had the best luck with PRLog, only problem with them is no anchor text (but I still get to throw my link in there!)

Ahh, all the self-serving links in my articles at GoArticles are in the author bio-box, anyway.

    Looks like I'm good.

Not that I usually bother to submit articles there these days, anyway, as most of them never seem to get indexed, and I'll be beggered if I'm building backlinks to their site.
