Is Adwords Doing Away With Adgroups?

Believe it or not, I'm an Adwords veteran.

Started a new account to document the process for an article I'm writing. I set up a campaign, an ad, and a keyword. So my account is created.

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to create a new adgroup. I see a big create new campaign button but nothing about adgroups.

No adgroup tab, just settings, ads, and networks.

Of course can create adgroups all day on my old accounts, but on the this new account...

I haven't put in my payment info yet for this account. Don't know if that's a factor.

Am I going crazy?

All you need to do is click on your campaign so you're on the "Campaign Management" page. From there, click the "Ad Groups" tab. Look just below the actual "Ad Groups" tab and you will see, "+ New Ad Group" which is where you can add your new ad group(s). I hope this helps!

That's what I thought as well, but I'm just not seeing it as an option. Here's my screenshot...

It looks like you need to enter your billing information first. Try getting that setup, then you should be good to go.

Have you tried using Adwords editor? This is a great tool for uploading campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ads. It also makes it very easy to make quick edits.

On the other hand, It is getting kinda confusing since Google keeps updating their UI every month. In my adwords, I see a tab under campaign management to add an ad group, but you have to create the campaign first. The billing info should not matter.

      Well, I figured it out.

Turns out that you have to click Create a new campaign to create a new adgroup.

Basically, Google has *******ized their own definitions assuming that anyone opening a new account doesn't know them anyways.

I'm not a big Google basher, but what an idiotic way to do things.

Here's a screenshot of what happens after you click Create a new campaign.
