Google and Google Adwords, something new here

Okay, something new to me. Got a call from the big "G" today, from their Adwords Department. The guy said they are starting a new program that is "Very selective" at this point. They are actually building Adwords campaigns for customers now, as an added value. The why of this is simple. They are loosing customers.

The question I have is anybody else aware of this? Is anybody else here "in bed" with Google for this type of thing? If so how are the results?

Certainly from face value it seems like it would make sense. Who better to make my adwords campain than adwords them selves . . . but who knows.

And no, it's not some scam (other than from Google itself possibly), the number is a Google number.

I have not heard anything about this nor have any of my marketing peers. Maybe your just in the special selection. Keep us posted as to more information in regards to this because it's something that could be beneficial to those less experienced with adwords and driving the proper campaign setup and it becoming very costly.

    Garret,

I heard through the grapevine about this, I haven't personally received a call from the big G yet, but I actually don't think it would be as effective as the current system I have.

I think they are trying to attract more of the small business type that don't have time to manage their PPC accounts.

I also feel that they are probably going to choose rather "expensive" keywords.

I mean, they make more profit on them, so why not... but who knows, I guess I'll wait and see.

    Interesting though...

I'm not sure if this falls in the same category, but they're starting something similar here in India. It's called Adwords for Small businesses. They're trying to tempt small businesses into using adwords by offering them free starting credits and help with setting up good adwords campaings, which includes keywords selection, management etc.

Hope that's the kind of thing you were looking for

    Cheers !

Garret I kind of know what you are saying,

I have had the same this with Yahoo and received a phone call out of the blue one day from Ryan my personal Yahoo rep. He wanted to completely handle my yahoo marketing account.

I don't know if Google is in need of customers but lower cpc would probably help them get more back lol.

When it is my money I treat it like a handle my stocks... Completely involved and hands on. I don't like the idea of another handling my advertising dollar. I always feel as if they have an alternative motive lol...

Watch they boost the CTR though the roof and have your conversions plummet through the floor. In their eyes they have helped you but in reality they have killed your conversions and left you to clean up the mess they made.

Keep me posted if you go along with it!

I have yet to hear about this.

Let's assume it's true. You assume that because it's Google themselves, you'd get quality. I very much doubt that whoever creates your campaign has much experience. Google probably hires lots of students, gives them a half day of training if they get training at all and pays them minimum wage. An Adwords factory. You will not get good quality work from that. Get a pro instead, you'll likely save yourself the headache.

Since any of their suggestions I've received from them in the past are more about maximizing clicks and not about maximizing my return, I would really not consider any help they offered to give.
