Can You Rank For Two Different Domains on the Same Title?

Hey everyone I have a quick question that I can seem to find an answer for. If I have two domains...lets say one that is blackshoes.com and another one that is blackshoes.net can I rank for both of those terms if they are on the same hosting account...ie GoDaddy?

For some reason I thought I had read somewhere that Google won't let you rank for both terms if they are with the same hosting account...However if you have one on GopDaddy..and the other on Hostgator you are able to rank both terms.

Does anybody know if this is true or untrue based on real time experience?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn

    Relax.

If google worked like that, half the internet would be
    in trouble.

But if the content is similar, really similar, like the same,
then this is where the duplicate content is used to try
and trick google. This duplicate content would not sit
    right.

It's hard enough doing one site, let alone two. I would
    just stick with one.

Thanks Paul. I'm not doing the duplicate content thing and I know that two sites is a pain to maintain but its one of those circumstances where I'd be silly not to. Thanks for your response!

If content of both websites if unique, then you can rank both of your websites for your primary keyword in spite of the fact that both are on same hosting.

I think that practice don't be appreciated. The most important part about getting different domain on the same title is ...there must be issue of quality among the content of website and the quality of the website.
