Hello friends, hope you can help me out with this:

I am trying to rank for the word rank position in my country (sounds better in spanish), i have been building backlinks with this kw , the problem is that when i check my ranking it says that i am in the 21th place , with that is ok for a week of work but no for keyword, just for "rank".....???

Why does google don't take "rank position" and only "rank", i don't understand all my anchor text in backlinks have been "rank position"...

I would appreciate your help to understand this.
Thanks

Ya...I m also not clear what exactly you r saying...but guessing and replying to your post.

Your links need to look natural...simply don't repeat your keyword in all backlinks otherwise this can backfire on you...also wait for some time to rank for popular keywords.

Just let me know how you r building ur links? Hope you have also worked on the content and on-page SEO.

Rank position sounds better in Spanish? Does that mean you
are trying to rank for the Spanish words meaning rank position?
Since those are 2 rather mundane words, google will try and
figure out what rank position you are talking about. There's a lot
of things that can vie for rank position. From cars to dogs, even
websites. People don't realize that google determines what your site
is about and how to rank it as people search. Sometimes they
guess wrong. Or better still, sometimes website owners guess
      wrong.

I can't imagine any real person searching for rank position without
qualifying word(s) to go with it. It would have no real value by
itself. Many people skip that part.

On a side note, link text only matters if your site is about that.
I could build all the links I want using student loans, but if my
site had little to do with student loans, it would be moot, no matter
how hard I wanted to rank for student loans.

I agree with all replies above.
      You gotta revamp the question.

I think his keyword is "rank position", but google is only ranking for the keyword "rank" and not "rank position."

Then it's closer to what I said first.
Google will on many occasions change you search terms,
as they feel your choice makes no sense in context for
      what people search for.

And I can't believe his site would rank for rank. You
would really need to figure what heck you want rank
position for. Do a search for rank and the highest site not
wiki, etc. is a golf ranking site. Perhaps golf ranking is
the most searched for rank. Next maybe SEO, websites.
Dang if that prchecker.info pops up as well!

Sorry friends, i will try to express better, my english is not so well, here i go:

I have WP site which i have optimized for the word " google ranking" in spanish, the thing is that I made many backlinks with the anchor text "google ranking" in spanish, the problem is that i do not appear in top 100 results for my keyword, but i do appear in the second page( wihich is good for me) for the keyword "ranking" in spanish....

So my question is: Why do i appear in the 2nd page for the term "ranking", when i did all my anchor text for "google ranking" which is not within the 100 results??

P.D: Im trying this KW in my country because it has low competition.

      Thanks
Hope i made myself clear this time.

Because at the moment google thinks you site better fits
just ranking and not google ranking. People get confused
when they think that just by using chosen anchor text
words they can magically rank for that. Google is smarter
than that. Your site gets SERP'd by what is on the page
and what google thinks is on the page.

Please note this does not mean anchor words are useless.
But they are not going to force google to do a thing. If
        only it were that simple.

On a side note, I would think that google rank or pagerank is
one of those word(s) that are global and never should be
translated. It is what it is across geographic lines. And that
may be part of your answer.

Piscola very important question. Where do the words "google ranking" (in spanish of course) actually appear on the page you are linking to.

People spend so much time talking about backlinks and not what should come before it. Your page mus have the on page element in order to rank.

If you have that then we can look at other things

I will only reiterate my comments about "google pagerank"
in Spanish. To me, it would make no sense to try that.
That's probably why "google (Spanish word for rank)"
would not appear. Remember that pagerank is not even
a real English word and "google page rank" or "google
pagerank" translated would have little meaning. So,
you are ranking for just "ranking" (in Spanish, I assume.)

And many words, like internet, just don't translate at all.

You might check this site out. Spanish, but uses the word
"pagerank" in English. DirectorioPR - Directorio PageRank

But, good luck with this one!

Wrong. I can rank for keywords with no on page elements present.

Others have shown this to be true too.

And no, as much as you like me (ha!), I'm not going to get in a debate about this with you. I'm just merely correcting a myth, not looking to defend my SEO philosophies with empirical evidence.

You can said your keyword is "google ranking" but how google understand that. Because in your site it is optimized for "ranking". I have a suggestion for you. Write article with good optimized for "google ranking" and post it in first page. Add All SEO plugin then you have a chance to get position immediately to "google ranking"
