Facebook PPC for Offline Success: Another Offline Client Case Study

Many of you know that I manage a lot of Facebook campaigns for local, offline businesses as part of a lead generation system I implement for them and manage on a consulting/agency basis.

One client in particular is a golf course/pro shop/driving range practice facility.

Something that they have at the facility is a very high end, indoor golf simulator. This uses a computer with a specially constructed backdrop that has a projected view of the course from the 1st person. The players use real clubs and balls, and when someone hits the ball, it gets caught by the canvas backdrop - but not before passing through two grids of tiny light beams that are broken in the place where the ball passes. The computer calculates the speed, spin, direction, etc... and forecasts the shot based on the algorithm... projecting a simulated ball in flight on the screen where the player can track.

The simulator allows players to play famous courses from all over the world.

The CEO of the company that owns and operates this course and facility just told me that all of their profit centers have been down from this time last year except for one... the indoor golf campaign that we've been running on Facebook. We've been promoting it through the winter months as a fun entertainment option for a group... of course also hoping to sell drinks from the bar, etc... as well.

Revenue associated with the simulator is up 40% over last year for just this campaign alone. Now the CEO wants to ramp up across the board.

A golf course is a particularly difficult offline business to promote, because they specifically are a destination location, and rely upon the old fashioned cash register on the counter as their sole way to make sales. So we're limiting the campaign to users in a 10 mile radius from the town where the facility exists and we're STILL getting a high conversion.

So, if anyone is on the fence about Facebook for offline, this is, yet another grand slam.

A side note... last year I implemented a newsletter opt-in program for them, and have managed it to over 3,000 opt-in members. This is possibly one of the largest regional customer databases of active golfers in the entire area, and I plan to leverage this to the hilt this coming season. I intend to open their eyes to the entire world of JVs and information product marketing.

Thanks for sharing. Facebook is a goldmine if you really think about it. Btw, is possible to get clicks for under 15 cents on Facebook? If so, would you mind sharing how to get the cpc down or do you bid on a cpm basis?

    Cheers
